Backed up mods + followed BeamNG's clean install instructions.
Same problem - only getting decent frames if I deep clean & run safe mode immediately after.
Seems my hardware doesn't even try unless I follow these steps. Safe Mode has the magic sauce.

Edit: I checked all settings and made sure they were the same as in Safe Mode.

    Poor optimization?

I am genuinely confused lol... I can't really think why safe mode works, but using a regular, clean, new userfolder causes the problem... Where is your usual userfolder located? Is it on the same drive as the Windows installation? (Like AppData?)

My BeamNG game files are currently installed on my second SSD D drive with every other game.
I've tried moving my user folder to both C: drive and D: drive

Do you mind posting two screenshots of the performance graph? One where you are experiencing the lag, and the other when you have cleared cache and are running in safe mode. Use the same vehicle and map for the test...

Sure - hopefully these are easy enough to read! One thing I noticed: The graph also updated super fast and smooth in the higher FPS.

EDIT: I did some further testing on Task Manager e: CPU usage..

When I launch the game normally, BeamNG is only using 2 cores (4 threads) at 100% each.

If my deep-clean and safe mode hack works, BeamNG uses ALL 12 CPU threads!!

I just added new thermal paste to the cpu and ill see if that makes any difference

    Nope

The really weird thing is that this is not a problem with directx, gpu temp, or even vulkan as I have ran unity with vulkan, 42 degrees C with beamng, and csgo with some directx version

How do i see cpu temps?

I think I have solved my issue (for now.)

After discovering that BeamNG.drive is having difficulty utilizing all my CPU cores, I found a program called Process Lasso.

It is like a more in depth version of Task Manager.

Process Lasso shows that BeamNG.drive is only using cores 0-3
(unless I deep cleaned and ran safe mode all the time.)

I fired up the map.. 15fps.
Went into Process Lasso and set to all cores.. boom. Instant 40fps boost!

My guess is that the game itself is bugged as it seems there are a lot of people in the same boat.

Hopefully someone sees this and it helps them!

I think it's because your issue is related to your GPU. Your CPU seems to be fine, judging by the performance graph saying your GPU is the bottleneck...

This is a good observation! Glad you found a solution that worked!
