(I see this was posted in January but I'm responding to the message) say, a guy online makes good things(mods) with reasonable price tags, and 0% goes to the devs since they didn't ask for a cut. Makes more sense. if they(devs) want a cut/portion, they should ask.
"in 2077" won't happen, we are way too close to a nuclear war which will wipe out most of the population because of it --- Post updated --- or we'll all die from natural causes by then, i dunno
if i did the math correctly, you are going to middle of nowhere, medevial france --- Post updated --- and now actually on-topic: i personally agree with what Lucas said, letting the devs profit off paid mod sales on the repo feels like a neat idea, just... don't go full apple app store on it
Although this thread is about 5 months old (and I probably shouldn't bump but I will), I believe that lucases idea is something that should be implemented. I personally think that a system where only verified modders can create paid repo mods would be a good idea as well- where you could trust that modder more, and the quality would overall end up better as well, and would be easier to approve as less could be able to post etc. This would also keep the amount of paid mods under control. I also think that these files should be password protected rather than fully locked, as owners of it could be able to modify the mod yet could not redistribute it to people without a password- although, i do feel that that there is a possibility that some morons figure out how to 'repack' these mods just like games, although maybe there could be a way around this by a system ingame that scans the file for content found in paid repo mods- to elaborate on this, although this would probably take a lot of time and have a variety of problems, such as servers etc, little people would be selling mods outside the repo anymore- keep in mind this would prevent irl car mods, although maybe some sort of unique id could be made for downloaded mods off the beamng site which could bypass the scan. if that system was added, it could probably kill meshslaps, or at least reduce the amount of them. idk. i'm sort of clutching at straws. Idk, sorry for bumping, uhhh hopefully this might revive this idea as it could bring a lot to the community. I feel i might of rambled a bit but hopefully it's readable to a point of understanding
However good sir, you do realise that this simulator has to 'unpack' contents loaded into a scene? No assets from any title are truly secure and will find themselves 'ripped' regardless. All too often models from video games (with disappointing and unsuitable polyflows) constantly find themselves masquerading as an add-on for BeamNG.drive, those too were once considered 'secure.' This would only introduce further loading screen slow-downs and surely impact performance of the title, and make life harder for this community.
What i mean is that the system would check the zipped mods you put into the mods folder's jbeam positions and compare them to the paid repo mods. this'd be pretty bad for servers but it's really just an idea i'm throwing out there.
You say that like the Civetta Mondello isn't the same mod that literally didn't have an interior for the longest time and yet was somehow still $12 or however much it was.
Yes, as in completely separate tabs, or a completely new Paid repo section in addition to the traditional repo. (old post I know but it still applies.)
It was $4 and always had an interior mate, dunno what you're on about. It's getting updated right now as well.
