I am looking for reviews or experience from anybody who has played this on a retina macbook. Specifically the 15" with the Nvidia Card but any and all is welcome. The reason is that I am looking to buy one of these laptops but I want to know how it will run.
Re: MacBoor Pro Retina It won't run at all unless you install Windows or somehow get a compatibility layer to work (unlikely).
Re: MacBoor Pro Retina This comment reeks of a PC elitist. It's called bootcamp and if you buy a mac with the right hardware you can easily play games. Yes it may be more expensive but to each their own. - - - Updated - - - Thank you for your helpful response.
Re: MacBoor Pro Retina PC = Personal Computer. Mac = PC. Dell = PC. HP = PC. Windows is an OS for PCs. OS X is an OS for PCs. Linux is an OS for PCs and much more. Your comment is invalid.
Are there any free alternatives? Because I have a macbook air and I don't have admin permission's to use bootcamp.
There is a program called Wine, which I believe people have played this sucessfully albeit a few errors. Unfortunately, I dont know how well your air will perform but I hope the best for you.
i played it with crossover a LONG time ago. it worked ok. my macs hardware wasnt very good though(core 2 duo, 256 vid ram, 4gb ram)
Re: MacBoor Pro Retina but why? you can get a FAR more powerful windows based PC for the same money or you can use that money to build a hackintosh that's once again FAR more powerful if you insist on using mac os (also @ pc elitest, macs are pc's as well pc = personal computer, so your point is invalid)
Let me be helpful here... I have the Late 13' 13" i7 (2.8) w/ 16GB of Ram, It performs nicely on most games. That being said, BeamNG runs smoothly on Low but I haven't tried, Normal because of unstable frames. I think the 15" should perform very well and be worth your money. What specs are you getting? What version of windows are you going to run? are you going to use bootcamp or some other software? - - - Updated - - - The specs of my old 2010 White Macbook...
Hello , I have a Macbook Pro 15 2012 with a GT650m for beamNg it's not that cool the GPU is not enough, you can play it but not with all the cars in good condition.
Friend has a Mac that can play any games at 60fps that are made for Mac. Except BeamNG. For him BeamNG on Gridmap w/1 D15 ran at 25fps.
Buy this instead. You get Windows 8.1, a better GPU, more RAM, and a better laptop for gaming and work stuff. http://www.amazon.com/MSI-CX61-2PC-499US-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B00ISKS4A2
Crossover is pretty much a frontend for wine anyway, yet somehow loses more compatability than wine? Dunno how that works, but whatever. - - - Updated - - - 820, any nvidia model ending in 20 is a low end GPU designed only as a replacement for integrated graphics. OK an 820 is still a lot better than Intel integrated, but it is a mediocre GPU at best. Bare minimum to consider is a GPU ending in 50(still considered low end for gaming) or 60.
Thannks for the warning, I recently got my 13" retina (in sig below) and have been amazed at it's over all preformance.
My suggestion if your going to get Mac Book is wait a little while as they are currently working on support for Mac, BUT if you really want or need it now, then go for it because the Mac Book Pro Retina is a absolutely great computer. Also if you purchase the Mac Book you can install windows if you have $100 to spare and a few hours. Though if you are in that price range of $2,000 (which is what the Mac cost) you may want to go for a Razer blade, a MSI GS60, or a Lenovo Y50 as they will all have a similar form factor, have the same or better specifications, and can play the game out of the box with out having to wait for a couple months. So whatever you choose good Luck!
