hi, you may have played grid map (not the pure empty one) and noticed that there are several different lines so i want to make a sand terrain, i tried to use brush tool but it wasn't like the one in this map, it was very light so can anyone tell me how can i make it heavy like the one in that map? i searched in the internet but no luck. and sorry for my bad english :|
If you want the car to 'sink' into the sand, you'll need to use a depth map. I think it's an 8-bit greyscale PNG, but I'm not sure. The image needs to be the same dimensions as your map, and the colour sets depth (white = no depth, black = very deep).
I would also like to know how this works. I'm creating a desert map and would like to add some depth to the sand. Help would be fantastic.
I made a depth test desert map, but I lost it when I switched to Windows 7 D: It's actually quite simple though. Just make a random height map, copy it, draw your depth map on it and save it as depth.ter.png (I think), then import the height map into T3D and put the depth map into the map folder. Should work. I might be forgetting about something though.
Alright I'll try that out and get back with some results. - - - Updated - - - So I've browsed numerous threads that described how to add depth to sand, but unfortunately I am having no luck in doing so. Can anybody point me to somewhere that tells me or tell me yourself how to create a depth map?
No it did not work. I don't know what my problem is. The png is 8-bit, greyscale, and correct size. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
It is the same size as my map. The only thing I can think of is that its not I'm the correct folder so the game is recognizing it as the depth map. I can try and work on that later. I pretty much need to get this working to make my map work. So hopefully I can figure it out soon.
