That'll be hilarious, but that should be the point of inspection and a test drive. Maybe the scammer refuses the test drive so you know you're getting scammed. So call the cops on them and one less scammer In Belasco City.

If they ever go through with the run a dealership idea, there should be special auctions for as-is cars with broken parts only for those that have dealer licenses.

Yup, it does! You'll notice a rough idle, and reduced power on higher mileage vehicles. More wear and tear is planned for the future, right now we got it in there as a, "this is quick and easy while we focus on more core systems" and it works great for now!

but maybe some private sales of expensive cars (eg: civetta scintilla) will refuse to let you test drive it because the owner is afraid you’ll crash it, so you can’t tell a scam just because you can’t test drive the car.

Awesome. I hope parts start to fail after reaching a certain amount of mileage.

The insurance should cover it though as you pay out of your own pocket if you damage the car. Maybe the hardmode version won't let you test drive if you don't have enough money.

and you could forge a dealer license to buy the cheapest car that runs, for terrorizing traffic:p

They should add a scrapyard so we can buy scrapped cars, fix them up, and then sell them for profit or keep and drive them.

I once took a base model lansdale, test drove it, crashed into multiple traffic vehicles, and flipped it

It would be cool to be able to steal cars, if you escape the police, you get to keep the car, but get put on a list of criminals, and if you get caught, you get fined and imprisoned.

    *more* ;)

Career Mode will benefit from whatever comes down the pipeline from the vehicle systems and physics teams. Personally I am hoping to see tire and brake wear added to the existing wear of vehicles. Lots of priorities at the moment across the teams, so for now the rough idle, reduced power, and faded paint is achievable and already feels much better than before we had it! :)

We're considering gameplay mechanics like stealing vehicles, but imprisonment doesn't fit our current plans. We're excited about the whole idea and we need to implement it carefully to prevent abuse. Our initial focus will be on developing law enforcement gameplay, which firstly requires improving traffic and AI systems. Vehicle theft will enables scenarios like stealing during test drives or deliveries. For instance, a player might attempt to steal a vehicle during a delivery mission which may trigger a police chase. If caught, the player will face appropriate consequences, possibly delaying or preventing future deliveries from that location. If they manage to evade the police, they can keep the vehicle, but selling it or its parts will yield a significantly reduced payout to discourage exploiting the system. We're confident we can strike the right balance between excitement and fairness in gameplay!

My curiosity got the best of me and I allowed myself to see some of career mode on YouTube. I've been wanting to wait until it's closer towards finished but I'm going to cave without a doubt.

Haha that's great to hear, and I totally get ya! I'm really blown away by how many people are posting and sharing their excitement across forums and YouTube videos! From my perspective, it's barely a skeleton at this point, 90% of the planned gameplay content isn't available, and the stuff that is there isn't "ready" or only partially developed at the moment. Things like onboarding, general UI, rewards and progression etc, are all still heavily under development!

So, if you DO start to play it, you'll have some personal experience to compare against in the future at least? ;)

Who am I kidding here... definitely load it up @TalksWithNoise and share your feedback!

I'm aware that most of the missions currently present in career are placeholders, and as far as I understand you're intending to have more story/clear progression from one mission to the next.
But, how are you planning on reconciling having menu accessed scenarios, freeroam accessed scenarios, and the more scenario-like missions in career mode, all at once?
(Are the freeroam mission markers only a temporary measure, and they'll be moved into career once it gets expanded to each map, or are they intended to stick around?)

Because currently, as fun as they are, most of the adventurer missions seem very out of place compared to the more grounded (current) Labourer Missions and (proposed) Motorsport/Specialised missions in career.
These adventure missions are also the primary candidates of the "loan car" system, further adding to the disconnect from the utility of them being in career mode; is someone who particularly likes adventure missions likely to use their tuned up 200BX to drive between stunt missions, just so they can pay for more upgrades on the 200BX that they're not using in any missions? the only part that you're really leveraging in that instance is the mission unlock system.

To me, the "Jump this scintilla onto a target", "smash stuff with the old cannon", "Punt pigeons off the roof" type missions fit a lot better as freeroam accessible scenarios. The variation in "OTT-ness" being often disconnected from the difficulty, and the inherent lack of ability to balance the difficulty, along with the general crazy nature of them makes it kind of clunky to lock them into a progression order.

Of course, it's possible you've got some storyboard planned to make it all make sense, or you've got some completely different style of missions up your sleeves. I do think "stuntman" style film-themed missions would fit well in career.

I also have a question: Is there currently any way to remove the markers in freemode? The markers show up when you are taking pictures and they are kinda annoying

So... could rain be added to spice up career mode?

Small bug: the first bonus star on Rowdy Racer is impossible (unless you use your own, much faster car) as the Barstow always crashes into the barrier before you can catch up. Also makes it rather easy as you just park behind the now-disabled car to win all the mission stars.

Credit to welf for spotting this, there's currently no way to refill nitrous in career, without selling and re-buying the whole nitrous kit.
A refill station (I presume using the same mechanic as refueling) would probably be best, and "fast automotive" on the racetrack would be a good place to put it.

That's right, the plan is that players will refill from their garage, otherwise go to Fast Automotive or another location near the drag strip for refilling NOS. Sorry that it hasn't been implemented this way yet. :)

Thanks for the report - the gameplay systems are constantly changing, but I've already passed this through to the gameplay team to make sure they're aware! :)

Although this is less of a Career Mode thing and more of an overall game-thing, I certainly agree, it would be lovely to have!
