    Hello there,

I've been trying to tweak the freecam Field of View (FOV) in BeamNG.drive's World Editor. However, after digging through a bunch of menus and settings, I haven't come across a straightforward solution. I have a hunch that adjusting the FOV might involve tinkering with a configuration file directly, but I haven't been able to track it down.

Can anyone help me figure out where I can adjust the freecam FOV within the World Editor itself, or point me towards the right config file for manual edits? Any pointers would be kind. Thanks in advance!

I'm fairly certain there's no menu to change the free cam's FOV (other than photo mode, but that change doesn't stay), and I'm not sure where the FOV value is stored in the game files.

I'm unable to check at the moment, but if I remember correctly, if you assign two keys, one to the zoom-in keybind, and one to the zoom-out keybind, you can actually zoom in or out the free cam by changing the FOV. Please let me know if that doesn't work...

I am free to zoom in or out, but I cannot go any further than I want to zoom in.

Ah okay, I see what you mean. I am not sure how to do that, unfortunately...

Way 1: Camera Path Editor. There's a control for camera FoV (there's also a 'Reset freecam fov' button)
Way 2: Using console and the Lua command core_camera.setFOV(0, n), where 'n' is any degree value between 10 and 120. In fact, if you try to use a number beyond that range, camera's FoV will still be set to 10 or 120 degrees.

How can I boost or reduce the field of view (FOV) in the game beyond its default range?

    1. Open world editor
    2. Click "window" (on the top)
    3. Click "add scene view"
    New viewport will appear.
    4. Right click inside this new window
    5. There will be a "fov" slider. Its value lays between 0.001 and 179 degrees. There is also an "ortho" checkbox, which technically sets FoV to zero

Screenshot taken with FoV set to 1.990 degree. My computer struggled a lot (I got around 5 fps). This also seems to break shadows

Thanks for walking me thru changing the field of view in the World Editor. Though I grasp that, I'm still stuck trying to precisely tune the value, especially going beyond 0.001. Dealing with an extra scene view adds complexity to navigation, plus figuring out how to leave the World Editor gets confusing. What I really want is to easily zoom in and out more or lower than 10 or 120 degrees in the usual freemode camera angle. So far, the first idea didn't solve the issue. Does anybody have any other techniques? Much obliged for your guidance.

You can precisely tune the value by holding ctrl, clicking the slider and entering any number.
    Happy to help!

I'm just curious, what would you need less than 10° of fov for ?

Maybe some telescopic simulation stuff, sure. Mostly though, folks crave a wider view. That's what I was looking for.

I was still holding Ctrl as you said, but nothing happened yet. I wonder if you could say which slider you were initially referring to. Navigating with a scene view proves cumbersome, and confined to the World Editor, where unrestricted panning vanishes post-operation. Fundamentally, I seek seamless zooming in or out. Unfortunately, your guidance failed resolving the predicament. I'm okay with operating outside this World Editor, but there's still a limitation that keeps me from zooming in or out beyond 10 or 120 degrees. Do you or anyone else have a solution?
