    Vulcan is stable 99% of the time, including in AI races, but when spawning traffic framerates go from ~60fps to ~5fps. The weird thing is the framerate doesn't recover after despawning traffic.

    With anisotropic filtering at x0 and x4 the shadows are buggy.
    With x8 it's as if the entire map is in the shadow of something.

    It works in safe mode for some reason so yeah arc a770 16Gb works with Driver 31.101.5330

    I am going to drive around and try ALL the settings from 4K ULTRA and Maxed reflection settings to 4K lowest settings.
    If someone else has an Arc gpu, please test 720p or 1080p and post that you are testing and report if issues arise with certain settings. With Screenshot please.

    Westcoast USA 4K max settings, from the city to the island no big issues exept for some reflection bugs. It switches between these every 0.8 to 3 seconds.

    The ultra preset is pretty much the same.
    Fps: avg. 10-11, drops to 7 from time to time

    Hi! so I was playing in vulkan everytime (last time 2 days ago), now it's giving me this error 0x00000001 and can only start in directx mode. I have everything up to date. cleared cache already. can't see why from the sudden it's not working. any ideas? using 7900xtx, 5800x3d, 32gb ram.

    edit: in safemode+vulkan gives this error at start 0xC0000005 STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION

    Vulkan is usually already installed with your graphics driver. Do you know what gpu you are using?

    Thank you for giving me a hint! I think I need to reinstall my gpu drivers and hopefully it will fix the visual glitches.

    I've done lots of performance testing without Vulkan but recently switched over to do some comparison tests, as expected in seriously CPU bound situations, the performance is amazing.

    System
    i9 14900k
    RTX 4090
    MSI Pro Z790 Wifi
    32GB Corsair DDR5 6400
    1TB WD SN850x

    City of Los Injurus is tough on CPU's so here is the performance in DirectX

    This is with 60 cars



    Now in Vulkan



    Not really playable but a huge difference

    I'm encountering many crashes with 0x00000000 (normal game) or 0xC0000005 - STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION (Vulkan safe mode + debug) when changing cameras or moving around in free cam.
    I know that it's an oxymoron but albeit being constant, the crashes happen randomly as I could play for some time without any problems, but on the following launch the game may crash as soon as I move around in freecam.
    I managed to reproduce it roughly constantly on ETK driving center: use the West spawn point, don't move the car, freecam (shift + C, not F8) to the wet road on your right keeping the camera roughly at the same initial height, the game should crash before reaching the strip of wet road.
    I'll attach some logs as well; beamng.log is from the normal game, beamng-launcher.log is from Vulkan safe mode + debug. I don't know where to find or if there are any logs for safe mode.

    that did happen to me three times in a row in beammp on the small drift island map but it stopped doing it so i didnt really bother checking my logs or anything

    Under Proton, attempting to load into some maps, most reproducibly Hirochi Raceway, results in a driver crash, kicking me back to my system's login screen before the map begins to display. I've reduced this down to a Vulkan or Mesa issue because the map loads fine under D3D11/DXVK- unfortunately I don't have any available Windows machines to try to reproduce the issue there.


    Attached is the only log I could get from the crash, safemode+vulkan results in the game not launching

    System:
    i5-6500
    Radeon RX 6600 running amdgpu with Mesa 23.3.5
    32GB DDR4-3200
    MSI Z270 Gaming PRO Carbon
    Game is installed on an SSD
    Proton Experimental as of 2024-03-23, based on Wine 9.0
    Debian 12 "bookworm"

    Is there any fix for AMD optimization issues yet? I get around 40 FPS at the default spawn point in WCUSA, but less than 15 at the same spot with Vulcan. I am not 100% sure if the graphics settings are the same, but I think they are (I did not touch them between changing versions).

    I have a PC with, AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU and Radeon RX 570 series (D3D11) with 4074 MB VRAM, and 16 GB of Ram. This PC has Windows 10 that is fully updated as of April 3rd, 2024, and the same go's with the drivers.

    Unfortunately, I cannot post a video or screenshot right now, but like I said, I get around 40 fps normally but I get less than 15 with Vulcan, both on the WCUSA default spawn point.

    I hope Vulcan will eventually improve my experience, instead of hindering it.

    Apologies for bringing up an older topic, but for anyone who is having problems with the massive foliage texture in johson valley, clearing cache, opening game in standard render, loading johnson valley, then restarting the game in the vulkan api caused the vulkan api to display all textures correctly again for me.

    That's great to hear. By any chance, do you know if some of the performance issues with Vulkan have been fixed? The main issue with Vulkan for me is that over time with AI, performance severely degrades and frame times go absolutely insane. I think a lot of other people have this issue as well. Once this is fixed, I reckon I'll be able to use Vulkan all the time.

    If you're unsure, then fair enough. I'm just a little curious :)

    The main issue is still memory management, it's a bit better in the next update, but game will still tank fps way more than on DX11 when running out of vram (when GPU starts using your CPU RAM as a frame buffer), I recommend using Low texture settings on a cards with 8GB vram and less if you want to use traffic and more complicated maps. At least for now.

    So basically anyone that does not have newer high-performance cards are screwed graphically for now... Yeah, my 4 GB system is being rapidly outpaced by the gaming landscape.

    Any news on AMD optimization?
