Instead of playing the Truck's Sound effect from the internet we have the actual sound of the truck now
i agree! it was totally t's wasted on a essentially an Allegro. it would have been way cooler (and more believable) if it was an ad for a FIAT, Lancia, or even Alfa Romeo
Tried it, and I immediately started having fun with the mod. I even attempted to recreate some shots from the movie. Cannot wait for the next update.
I think what some may not realize is how popular Duel was as a cinematic release in Europe and especially Japan. Though it was a made-for-TV movie in America, Spielberg and the crew went back and filmed some "filler" scenes to pad the runtime after-the-fact and released it theatrically elsewhere. I've seen a number of different anime series that reference/feature a cameo from the Duel truck.
I had thought about that as a pure hypothetical years ago, and couldn't come up with a good answer. You need a solid "everyman" vibe, but also the ability to be almost over the top cheesy when pushed to his breaking point. But... here's a thought out of left field... Ke Huy Quan. ...as to the truck driver... NOBODY. The whole point is you never see him. That's part of the terror. You have no idea who he is or exactly why he's doing what he's doing. ...as to the vehicle, it has to be something relatively recent, but not new. Also, it needs to be underpowered... I'd say a late '10s Nissan Kicks. It's representative of the current crossover-heavy market, and one of the slowest cars on the market.
What about the Truck? maybe a Modern or Older Truck with a Tanker Trailer just like the Peterbilt 281 in the Original Movie
