Re: BMW E30 M3 Let me start by saying that this thing is awesome. One caveat, however: The engine. All of your gearing is spot on to the euro-spec M3, but the engine seems to be tuned to Evo I or Evo II specs. (looking at the .jbeam and comparing to charts) Also, the redline is too high. Your .jbeam'd torque curve ends at 7000RPM and the engine redlines at 7500 in-game. IRL the redline is 6750RPM. The "engine tuning" option also actually lowers engine output to below stock specs. EDIT: Proper engines, gearboxes and differentials are definitely within my comfort zone for content creation/modification. If you'd like a hand, I'd be happy to edit the engine file to offer multiple engine/transmission configurations for you. It would be really cool to outfit this thing with everything from the U.S. Spec S14 all the way up to the Sport Evo III and Group 3 builds. There were also 3 different gearbox options (U.S, Euro and Group A) that wouldn't take much to add as well.
Re: BMW E30 M3 Please do. Be sure to add your name to the JBeam files you create or modify heavily. - - - Updated - - - So the engine I made was the 2.3 with 240 Nm torque. It shipped with most M3's (2) You were talking about the 2.0 only available in Italy and Portugal. Its redline is 7300 (2) Unfortunately, the 2.3 engine redline is missing from the page (1) I know my performance is accurate by automobile catalog (1) I have to guess that the redline of the 2.3 is 7250, because that's where the graph ends (1) 1 http://www.automobile-catalog.com/curve/1987/52640/bmw_m3.html 2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_S14
Re: BMW E30 M3 Found one issue, it is still connected to airspeed.... and it turned itself into a Ford Anglia after a crash at 170km/h...
Re: BMW E30 M3 This thing is fun as all hell, and it controls so well, I took it around Laguna Seca with no problems, also it seems to be quite good at drifting (Pictures below). (imported from here) (imported from here) (imported from here)
Re: BMW E30 M3 1. it doesnt turn for some reason. Is this supposed to happen at this stage or is that some kind of bug. When the "steering" is put in, the wheels just stay straight, they dont turn whenever i press right/left. Emptying the steering and putting it in again does not work. pls fix? 2. Or is this for expiramental version of beamng drv?
Re: BMW E30 M3 From your charts, what you made is perfect. I was referencing a website devoted to the S14 engine itself, not the M3. I've started work on the multiple engine options. Should have it done tomorrow. The site I got my figures from: http://www.s14.net/specplus/comparisons.html 1) Delete this mod from your BeamNG install. (cache folder too) 2) Re-download the mod. 3) Install the mod correctly. Every aspect of this vehicle is functionally working in its current release. Including the steering, and the bucket. Tested it extensively myself, in Experimental. EDIT: I've attached those engine/gearbox/diff options. I've credited myself on stuff I changed. The options are: U.S., Euro, Evo II and Group A Engines U.S., Euro and Group A Gearboxes U.S., Euro, Group A and Alpina Rear LSD Does not include: Group A bucket tune Breakfast World Peace Everything seems accurate, I've tested it on GridMap and the 0-60's and Top Speeds for each engine/gearbox/diff combo are accurate to the chart I referenced in my post. If you like these, please use them. If you don't like them, no harm done (only 15mins of work including testing). Either way, I had fun making them. Hope I helped. Also, in my game I've saved part configs for each "region" of the car, as well as 2 Group A options (sprinter and endurance). I would have included those as well but for some reason I can't actually find the .PC files for those configs. BeamNG swears it's saving them within the vehicle folder and I can open them without an issue in-game, but they don't show up in the vehicle folder IRL. Bizarre. When I figure out where the phantom files actually live, I'll post those as well. Godspeed, sirs. EDIT AGAIN: I forgot to delete the Engine Tuning slot in the engine.jbeam in my .zip. I'd recommend removing that for the next release. It decreases engine power, but it is kind of funny to try and drift the M3 with a Turbo Covet engine. For those other than the OP downloading my .jbeam modifications: -Download the .zip. -Unzip the .zip. -Cut/Paste and REPLACE the engine and rear suspension .jbeam into your BMW folder in /vehicles. -Refresh your cache and all that nonsense. If you have the game open and are currently fiddling with the E30, then CTRL+R to reset the car and it'll give you the new options in the Parts Selector (CTRL+W)
Re: BMW E30 M3 This thing is beautiful, for a ripped vehicle the interior is superb looking. My opinion: As mentioned the gearing needs tweaking and the overall beam deform/strength values are really weak. I can't believe I'd complain about that but it's to the point with this that's it's unrealistic. Jack up those values and make it a bit more robust. 40 mph T-bone with D-15 looks like a train hit it. Nice mod!!
Re: BMW E30 M3 Okay I have played with it longer and I have a few things to report and suggest: Bug: -Steering wheel is not perfectly center on its spin. Suggestions: -Make it tougher (as stated above). -Add a convertible version if you can, that would be mighty fine.
Re: BMW E30 M3 Realistic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr5wE0NVUw8 - - - Updated - - - You're a huge help. Thanks a lot! - - - Updated - - - 1. Obviously. 2. It's in the "Current Issues" section
Re: BMW E30 M3 nicw work there. please add the version number to the download in the OP, e.g. bmw_e30_v1.2.zip.
Re: BMW E30 M3 Lovely car, with great handling, tho it feels quite slow.. Could use some speed. Also, you probably already know but it gets deformed quite easily. Keep up the good work
Re: BMW E30 M3 I'm working on strengthening the B pillar, and cuytastic is working on some more powerful engines and transmissions. - - - Updated - - - Good idea
Re: BMW E30 M3 Download the zip I uploaded and select the group A engine. With the right trans/diff combo it'll do 0-60 in about 5.8 seconds with proper shifting and the top speed is north of 175mph. This creates another issue though, grip. It's an amazing drift machine but gets really tail happy if you're too liberal with the throttle.
Re: BMW E30 M3 Beta 1.3 has rolled out. I've made some structural changes, as well as meshes for Stiggy, cuytastic's retunings, and some other things... Oh yeah, I kicked the bucket (It was like 5 in the morning when I made that), and added in-game engine and enginebaycrap meshes as well as a transmission and driveshaft (which wasn't included earlier.) Although I have these meshes working, textures just will not work for me. I'm using the experimental version, so that may be a problem. Anyways, they don't show up in my materials file, and I can't even manually enter them. Maybe they'll show up on your machine. Any help appreciated. Thanks for being awesome, guys
Re: BMW E30 M3 Beta 1.4 is now available to download. Lots of fun in this update. We've got Stig, engine sounds, and much more that I forgot about! I need your feedback to make it any better, though.
Re: BMW E30 M3 Ok, I'm gonna teach you how to make the sounds unique to a vehicle, rather than modding out the original sound. This mod/hack/tweak/idkwhat was found out by mrhankey and fireboyd78 (<-i think) We'll be poking into two files in the folder, name.cs and bmw_engine.jbeam Firstly, put the "lua" folder found in the attached zip in the vehicles folder. UNZIP THE ZIP. Second, put your sound file in the folder and name is "i4" (.ogg) Third, go to name.cs and put the following Code: singleton SFXProfile(bmw_i4) { fileName = "vehicles/bmw/i4.ogg"; description = "AudioDefaultLoop3D"; }; </name.cs> Next, go to bmw_engine.jbeam and put the following Code: "engine":{ "engineSound":"bmw_i4", "idleRPM":850, "shiftDownRPM":3400, "shiftUpRPM":6800, notice the space between "engine":{ and "idleRPM". This is where it MUST go. And voila! It should work! And no more haggling around with the art folder in the game's main directory... - - - Updated - - - By the way. VERY nice mod you've got here... Also, i volunteer myself to work on the sounds for your mod PM me.
Re: BMW E30 M3 Hey there Nice work! Great car so far You said you'd like some feedback to improve it, so I'd like to give some feedback: There is very less about that car that is not okay, I do really like the details you put in the Tachometer It just get's an offset when driving at higher speeds, but that's okay I think There is only one thing that I do really notice: When going fast ( more than 65mph or 130km/h ) the car starts to feel kind of wobbly. Of course, it will start to drift because of the RWD when turning to hard. But when steering very very slightly, it reacts as if it was more like a ship than a car. On the other hand, the handling at low speeds is amazing accurate. I don't know what the reason might be ( Maybe drag? ), but that's the only point I could find which is not yet perfect
