So to start things off I have been playing and tinkering with this game since it was released publicly. I even actually modded Rigs Of Rods previously. However even though I have released several mods. I never really considered myself a "modder" . However I think I may have finally gotten to basic entry level modder. My new project is a slight refresh to my favorite car in the game, the Moonhawk. And I do mean slight. All I have done so far to the car is give it a nose job. I have never been a huge fan of the "nose" that it had. So I tucked it back and gave the car a more brick like appearance. That is not enough for a public mod release in my opinion. However since beamng is lacking in 70's police cars I decided that it will be a pack of some police configs. However, I wanted more. So I decided to attempt to actually "model" a 70's police lightbar. I chose a classic. A Federal Twinsonic, which is essentially a couple of cubes. I also borrowed some Beamng assets to make everything work. And some how, I ended up with something that actually has working textures. Only because I borrowed some default stuff. But if it works why complain? What's next? Well I would like to remodel the rear of the Moonhawk. Also, I want to touch base with the fine person who created the amazing Sedan+wagon mod for the moonhawk. I need to see if they are okay with releasing a pack that their mod is a requisite. I am sure they will not mind since I am not actually using their work. I also have some ideas for additional grill variations and some other lightbars. Just for funsies. So, if you have any ideas to throw out that that are in the spirit of a 70's US cop car go ahead and tack them down. However do consider that my modeling is still very basic. So, I think this front end treatment really is an upgrade over my previous one. I have two more grills I want to try.
There is an Aerodynic lightbar that is compatible with this mod. It is available on the repo. I have a short preview video today showing off the new retro police equipment I have made. I hope everyone enjoys.
I think that would work as a sport trim package for the lore or maybe a mid trim brand between bruckell and soliad since there is already a moonhawk based soliad mod
If you want a new rear end, I'd suggest the '74 Gran Fury's design. Not at all because of the Bluesmobile, but because it just looks like a police car.
Rear end is mocked up. I think I nailed what I was looking for. and the fact that it works on any Moonhawk mod is quite impressive IMO. More progress soon. I have to learn glowmaps
Though the Chrome Cache has no textures since it was not updated and the creator of the mod has stopped modding
After poking and prodding the model I believe that I am going to have to remodel the trunk, tailights and bumper. Too many shading issues. I will get started on that next week.
