My goal is to be able to use custom event sounds so I have more control over the volume, I want shiftAfterFire to be near stupid loud. I have already increased shiftAfterFireVolumeCoef to a very high value however after a certain point I could not hear it any louder. I also changed other related values to increase audible volumes however it is still not as loud as I would like it to be. So I have went down the route of using Audacity to record "event:>Vehicle>Afterfire>v8_crossflow_01>shift" via the world editor SFX with my BeamNG audio settings for the environment etc turned down to not interfere with the recording. I recorded the event sound in both Stereo and Mono with samples rates for both at 48000hz and 96000hz, following advice from what I have read on these forums. I increased the DB to match my desired volume and exported with quality=10. The exported .ogg files sounds good to me. I add the .ogg file into \mods\unpacked\mod_xyz\vehicles\common\afterfire_sounds and link the sound up in JBEAM as seen in another mod(which works). However in game the sound is different to the file and is actually worse than the original event sound I am basing the audio off of. Please help me figure out what I am doing wrong so I can increase the volume of shiftAfterFire.
UPDATE: The sound seemed to match closer to my .ogg file when I next started up BeamNG. Ctrl+R to reload the car/mods at the time was not helping, maybe Ctrl+L to reset lua could have helped. Or perhaps my ears were just being funny when I first made the post. Something that is working better for me now regarding event sounds, specifically ShiftAfterFire, InstantAfterFire and SustainedAfterFire is increasing the volume of "Other" in the UI Audio tab. Can make them more prominent by doing that and changing other Audio volumes such as Engine, Forced Induction etc. SIDE NOTE: Came across Bailey’s SBR Twin Turbo Pack mod today and I highly recommend the sound files in here: limitpump1, limitpump2 and ugrhuracanflame('s). Now using those sounds with Scintilla Sheep Racing Turbo mod (which is an amazing mod), where I changed the turbo hiss, spin and bov events and their volumes (personal use only).
