Hey boyos, I'm sick right now so I've been messing around with BeamNG mods again. Today I bring to you a mod I've been working on little-by-little (VERY little) for quite a long time, and I've mentioned it in several other posts. This is my very first attempt at modeling an entire car body shell, and I think it went rather well. WHAT IS THIS MOD? Ever wanted a lower, sportier, meaner pickle? Well want no more! This mod is a new body-shell for the Autobello Piccolina, based upon the VW Kharmann Ghia. It's lower, sleaker, and you might even say lower than the original Piccolina. Because of this it tends to handle a little better and more stable-ly lol WHY AM I RELEASING IT NOW? A really cool dude I watch on YouTube inspired me to make this mod with these videos He recently (Septemberish of 2023) got encephalitis (AKA swelling of the brain [usually caused by a bacterial infection]) and he was debilitated for a long time and is still recovering. He recently posted a video (below) stating that he had to sell some posessions (including his home) to pay for his medical bills. It's hard to imagine that kind of thing anyway, but this dude is the same age as my dad and to see someone that young having such a hard time is painful to imagine, let alone to see unfolding before your very eyes. All this is to say that he has opened a kickstarter/gofundme/whatever (at the behest of his fans, he wasn't planning to do so) to help cover his medical expenses and maybe allow him to keep his home. I'm releasing this now to try to draw attention from fellow car-nuts to go give him an encouraging word if nothing else. His gofundme page (I got the link from the description of his above video, so it's not going to me lol) https://gofund.me/751a1209 And here's his YouTube channel as well, he has dozens (maybe hundreds) of videos going over the history of random vehicles he finds in the junkyard and they're all quite interesting watches if you're into automotive history or are generally a nerd (like me lol) https://youtube.com/@stevemagnante?si=ZkNWdniOSI83qHtD CURRENT FEATURES: * Basic body mesh in-game, * Partially Jbeam'd, * "Driveable," * "New" rear suspension (Swing-axle[works with pickle & SBR engines]), * Works with most vanilla Pickle parts, * Works with @Agent_Y 's Universal Dummy mod (Kinda) * And plenty of jank to go around... SCREENSHOTS: Shot showing the "completed" model in AutoSmooth shading. Shot displaying the wireframe of the model. I hand-made this model completely from scratch, no outside assets or downloads were used outside of a blueprint from Google images. Shot showing roof .jbeam which has already been properly adjusted. Shot showing the fact that no ancillary parts have been .jbeam'd just yet... (Doors, fenders, decklid, frunk, etc.) Shot showcasing deformation after a pretty severe crash. The same image with .jbeam debugs enabled. PLANNED FEATURES: * "Custom" (fitted) interiors that don't clip, * "Custom" (fitted) engine accessories (intakes/exhausts/intercoolers/etc.) that won't clip, * Custom trim and accent pieces to spruce things up a tad, * Full vanillaish-quality .jbeam with openables etc. * Custom headlight and taillight bezels and signals (?) * Full comatibility with vanilla Pickle parts and configs etc. (to include off-road, etc.) KNOWN BUGS/ISSUES: * No headlight or taillight models just yet, I have some throw-togethers made, but they aren't in-game, * No "fitted" interiors yet, they are vanilla Autobello and they kinda fit, * Fenders and doors and hatches are not .jbeam'd yet so deformation and collisions for them are nonexistent, * No glass models or .jbeams yet, * No materials or textures on the body shell either, STRETCH GOALS: * MacPherson Strut front suspension like the 1970's "Super Beetles" had, * An Elegance-specific skin UV and skins to boot, * Verify compatibility with existing Pickle mods that I like (LSX Autobello by @phoob, Autobello Mecanum-Drive by @Blijo, and AWD Drift Autobello by @crashmaster) * Convertible with working soft top??? Mod should just drop in your "mods" folder and work. If it doesn't, or if you run into any bugs I didn't post up there ^^^ then reply to this thread or PM me and I'll try to get it sorted ASAP.
Oh my, one of my fave cars getting the lore friendly treatment? Love the name too, very appropriate for this gem.
First we get news of a lore-friendly Trabant, now this. Gotta love cars that are all show and no go, can't wait to see more progress on this
