Good God, man, do you know what you've just done? ;)

    • Re: Level Tools I recall hearing that part of the reason for the lull in level content for the last few years has been because better tools are being implemented for level creators. Assuming I'm not misremembering, could you talk a little more about what those tools might potentially be? Something like openEXR heightmap import, multi-road splines, smooth terrain material transitions, etc.?
    • Re: Unique Challenges I've come to notice over the last few years that the scenarios (and now missions) have become a lot more formulaic. I'm sure this is out of necessity for populating career mode and offering a lot of chances for quick, fun gameplay without needing excessive QA testing, but I can't help but miss weird one-off challenges like Intersection, Broken Truck, Corridor, Hard Parking, etc. This is made all the more painful after an amazing and versatile tool, Flowgraph, was added to the game, only to be used in but 3 scenarios and 2 missions, off the top of my head. Are there any plans to return to making a few more unique missions like those in the future, or should it fall to the modders to produce some of the wackier scenarios?
    • Re: LightRunner ...the elephant in the room. Tonally incongruent? Sure. Made to show off an amazing feature near nobody seems to have used in the intervening years? Yes. Still cool as hell? Absolutely. But what should happen to it? It could use a serious spit-shine in my opinion, and probably the return of some of its now-missing vehicle configs, but I'm not quite sure if it's main menu button material. Perhaps an official mod à la Dry Rock Island?
    • Re: Demo Derby One of the original plans for BeamNG back in the day was for demolition derbies to be central to the game experience, yet it's the probably the one branch of motorsport with no representation in-game right now. Several of the most recent beater configs have been accurate demo derby-spec, so what's holding it back? Jbeams sticking together? AI limitations? Or is it just not a priority right now, and it's obscured by dozens of other tasks in need of completion (we've all been there lol)?
    • Re: Snacks Favorite shelf-stable snack food. Salty, sweet, sour, chewy, crunchy; whatever your druthers. Hard pretzels? Corn chips? Trail mix? Gummi Colas?

Didn't read the entire thread but since you said you bring technical changes, will we also get changes in terms of linux compatibility?

You’re the best devs in gaming and working on the hard background stuff is one major reason why. All my love.

Take all the time you need, underhood improvements are just as important as the cool stuff. I know we're getting a bit more T-series content and it'd be nice if there was another remaster as well but I won't complain if there isn't if course. Every remaster that doesn't happen now is one to look forward to later. I'm extremely curious as to what the next new vehicle would be, whenever it may happen.

As a developer I'd love to see your development pipeline and process, including the banal bits. There are many people who will appreciate this level of sharing your technical knowledge. As someone who has poked around in the beamng lua codebase to a small extent, the things I find in there are very interesting. I'd love to see the team's thought process on how they optimise, what legacy code to delete, etc. Kind of like Johnathan Blow's livestreams.

I'm really glad to hear that :). As a software developer, passionate BeamNG fan (started with ROR), and map designer, I had the impression for a while that it was more about superficial things and an 'arcade' feeling. Creating a solid foundation for the further development of BeamNG is, in my view, also an important step. I'm happy to wait and want to thank you for this amazing piece of software as it already is, and I look forward to the further refined results of your remarkable work!

That's cool. Maybe put a picture of the code in visual studio as the banner in steam, since it will be mostly centered about under the hood stuff?

When will Lightrunner receive an update, and/or remaster? I hope it has not been ignored!

I would like to do some questions about beamng and some common questions:

    1) What happened to concepts? e.g. Civetta Fulmine, Jargl brand and some Gavril models. And is it true that Charmand is the "official" brand of Beamng? I always thought it was a mod
    2) Have you ever planned an official east european car / truck brand? or a map? (talking about maps, is planned a remaster for some maps like Italy and ECUSA? (THESE ARE NOT REQUESTS, just a curiosity)
    3) Which car is your fav in Beamng?
    4) Do you think that some brands like Autobello, Civetta or Burnside need more cars?
    5) A question about Autobello: is it only based on FIAT or on other brands too? (e.g. Lancia, Maserati, DR Motors, Alfa Romeo, Autobianchi)

A little extra wait isn't bad at all. I'd also like to buy a Beam.NG coffee mug whenever it gets worked out. ;)

Keep working and take your time. The worst is a rushed update.
