Apologies for lack of updates. Blkfxx kinda fell off the face of the planet and the project is currently in limbo. I honestly don’t know what else to say other than the project is stalled for now.
As an apology and consolation to anyone waiting for this project to come to fruition, I’m arranging to have the engine package for the Dunekicker made available for use as an engine swap. Fuel tank capacity is 35 US gallons or 132.5 liters. Transmission is a 5 speed manual W56 Toyota setup. Sounds were recorded from Forza Horizon 5 from the Toyota Baja truck as we could not find other suitable engine sounds that were even close to the 3VZ-E, assuming Forza audio engineers actually recorded from the truck like the other vehicles. The models for the wheels and tires never got updated in the project files The best we got is the BFGoodrich KR Project tires fitted to the PPI beadlock wheels 015 used from 1995 to 2000 when PPI retired from desert racing. Might be able to pull the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain MD tires from the model (fitted as a spare) but thats a long shot. The Yokohama tires were never saved in the files and are lost unless someone is willing to make those. I did not want to make this post, but until I can find another modeler or someone willing to take up the project, I’m declaring this mod on hold for now.
As promised, here's the engine package for the Dunekicker we've been testing. Includes two configs for each transmission type with different suspension setups and red paint schemes. Hits around 90-95mph (you can adjust the final drive to get faster, but was intended to top out at those speeds).
Model work has resumed and the areas that needed fixing are being worked on as we figure things out. Still no estimate on when it will even be ready to test but things are moving along. Liveries for the bodywork may be soon as well, depends on how quick it all wraps up.
There is not a whole lot of progress to show right now, but I promise that we're cooking. Just seen some WIPs of the first liveries. Aside from one logo we have to omit due to not finding the original source, I'd say the 1993 season liveries will be available as they are being made. Might also have some other stuff being cooked up. Time will tell and when there is more substantial progress to share, I will. Stay tuned, everyone!
I don't think Ibishu is Toyota, more like Honda. I have toyed around with the idea for a Hirochi rebrand livery with other Beam brands like Grip-All and all that, some logos would need to be custom made like a Hirochi Motorsports, Hirochi Racing Development, etc... Time will tell. A repo release was not planned as a lot of the period-correct liveries, wheels, and tires are intended to be made for this. The UVs and a blank livery pattern will be included for custom stuff. Might have a separate thread for user-made customs after the release.
Don't worry, things will fall into place in time. Just concentrating on finishing the model work. The engine is shaping up pretty good and the rest of the drivetrain was sorted out. Anything extra like liveries for stuff we don't currently have were saved for the future, like anything with the Progressive wheels or Yokohama tires.
Thanks for the support. Just don’t expect engine and awd swaps, it was not designed like that and physically impossible to do so. We’re making it as it was racing from 1989-1993. Might have some extra stuff like the later hood (with a big “maybe” attached) but the appearances will not be like FH5, which was a scan from the truck as a museum piece and has not raced in 30+ years
I know but its still cool. In my game i put the racing v8 in it and i have the same paint job but its black instead of white. I'm still fine with it having the factory stuff tho
That is more likely a reference to the later chassis 015 which did get a V8 engine and had a “ripped” black, gray, red, and white paint scheme. It would not be impossible to add a V8 into 010 as it took up about the same space in the engine bay without too much trouble. Historically, 010 was a V6. The team might do 015 in the future unless someone else does it first.
hey man is there any updates i'm so damn excited to see this thing done one for the truck love the truck and its history but also for the 40 inch projects because you'll be the only person to make them but thing already looks sick asf
Nothing substantial, its being worked on but the modeler is also a fab shop tech. I understand if he’s busy and work/life takes priority over a hobby. Little correction regarding the tires: I have confirmed with one of my Toyota contacts, the tires equipped on 010 were all 35x12.5” BFG and Yokohama tires fitted to 15x8 wheels. Taller tires would break the fiberglass body and afaik 1992 was the first time any 37” tires were used. The later chassis, 015 used 37” Projects. Our tires were meant to be period correct so we wanted a specific look for 010. As stated before, when Blkfxx suddenly disappeared, the project lost a bunch of progress along with both sets of Yokohama tires and a set of Progressive wheels that were WIP along with the knockoff hubs used. Thankfully those might be returning but for now the look we will be focusing on and will have presets for when the truck gets into the game will be the 1993 season. When the Yokohama tires and Progressive wheels are made again, then we can focus on the 1989 to 1992 season appearances. I cannot positively say when the truck will be ready for initial import and testing, but I am hoping it will be some time this year.
ohhh okay thats cool tho you have people in the offroad industrie working on this prject, thank you for the correction i was kinda hoping for 40 inch projects because no one makes them but, im taking a stab at it and was also wondering if you have any advice for me, im working on making my own 40 inch projects and have no clue what im doing in the slightest, but good luck with the truck
s start with a known tire size and scale it up accordingly. the references are out there, just got to look for them. the closest modern tire to the Projects would be the krt. the tread pattern is fairly close if not improved from the kr1 thank you for the kind words, this project has been a journey for me as ive had to track down references and any info i can. when PPI first introduced 010, there was nothing like it so naturally they were very secretive about how it worked. i never knew that some internet searches would lead to having phone or text conversations with former PPI crew including Tommy Morris. what a wild experience.
I return with some substantial progress, we have the engine! Also got some parts for the front end cooler intake and steering mechanism. I think mostly the cockpit needs to be filled out and inner panels be placed but otherwise the interior is almost ready to be textured. Apologies for the slow progress, Phantom has been busy with his fab shop so he does what he can. More good news, Blkfxx returned so we have access to the Yokohama tires and anything else that was not updated, so I think everything is going to be okay with the project. Release date is still unknown but progress is progress. Will return at a later date with updates more as I see them.
