Re: General discussion chat Way back in 2010/2011 I was a beta tester for the original ancestor of the Chromebook, called the CR-48. It was a nicely built little computer, but being hilariously underpowered and having a terribly faulted trackpad meant that I didn't use it for long- plus, I didn't (and don't, to this day) have much of a use for an entirely web-based operating system. Anyway, fast-forward to this morning: I was digging through a closet looking for something unrelated and found it, completely blanketed in dust, sitting abandoned in a corner. Booting it up, I remembered that I'd tried unsuccessfully to put Ubuntu on it a while back, essentially rendering the computer a computer-sized soft touch paperweight. I remembered what I did wrong the first time, I just didn't have the energy to fix it. After reformatting the SSD I reinstalled ChromeOS and got to work on putting Ubuntu on it again. I downloaded an install script and ran it, and after a couple of variations of run flags I finally got it to initialize successfully. 20 or 30 minutes of waiting, and... It's not perfect (the trackpad is still next to unusable, the wifi cut out four times while writing this and it is still unfathomably underpowered) but it's still a nice machine for word processing etc.
Re: General discussion chat By the looks of things anything that they left on the floor wouldn't be of much use with the device looking like that. Presuming you are the parents you should get them a really old Nokia brick to replace it, as well as really good healthcare plan since they aren't going to be breaking anything but themselves.
Re: General discussion chat ...I'm not a parent. I ride his bus and he gave it to me. But I wholeheartedly agree with the Nokia idea. That or... NOTHING! That would be funny. The other interesting thing today was the new school WiFi setup. Now they openly say they can look at what you're doing (though they could already do that) which made a bunch of people freak out. They also blocked Snapchat and a few other sites, which is another plus. Basically, all the stupid people whose lives consist only of social media were freaking out, and it was hilarious.
Re: General discussion chat Yeah, I've seen a few suppressors for shotguns, except they are sometimes half the length of the gun itself. This is by far the smallest one I've seen. Pretty cool.
Re: General discussion chat I got into the school wifi before we all had laptops back in 7th grade. All of the filters and shit pretty much rendered it useless. I just use my 4g unless I'm at home. In 8th grade when we got the laptops, they could see what we were doing. Didn't stop me from not doing a bit of work in class. I never got shit the from administrators, though. Pretty much everyone else did at some point. I don't know how they never caught me on youtube or the forums or something. I'm not really sure if they can see what we're doing at my highschool. I haven't heard anything about it. If they do they just never monitor us.
Re: General discussion chat A lot of things aren't blocked at my school. I can go to Twitter with no restrictions whatsoever. I'm like always on the forums too. And I DDOSed (not complete crashed) a crap website there too. Hmm.

Re: General discussion chat Ha What an idiot But is it really necessary to approach the dude with your gun aimed at his face? Yeah he's an asshole and endangering the public and breaking laws and shit for doing donuts in the street, but damn. Not like he's going up on the sidewalk and mowing down families of tourists.
Re: General discussion chat I slowloris'd my school website, at my school, with my school PC. Didn't take it down but it was slowed down to the point of being unusable. And I kept it like that for over an hour. That was fun.
Re: General discussion chat I bet you were all anonymous with your skull desktop background, green text cmd window and google chrome incognito mode, eyy?
Re: General discussion chat My school has actually outlawed Google. There is a list of approved sites I've snuck into. There are, no joke, ten sites that aren't blocked.
Re: General discussion chat I feel like we really need a ''stuff you made in 3ds max, blender etc.'' thread here, so that we can put our renders and models that we make there. Anways. I got bored again.(enlarge image for good quality) Also, merry Christmas to everybody here!
Re: General discussion chat You mean this thread? It hasn't been used in a bit, but I'm sure nobody would mind if it were resurrected. Fantastic work, btw!
Re: General discussion chat I don't have access to that thread, simply because I am not able to buy BeamNG at this moment. Is there any other thread that is available for everyone? By the way, does anybody know if there is a way to buy BeamNG with iDEAL? Fastspring doesn't support it. Also, thanks for the compliment Expect more renders coming soon.
Re: General discussion chat More like default win7 background, white text cmd and no browser because you don't need it.
Re: General discussion chat There was a time at my school where Google Images was not allowed. Everyone had to use Pic Search instead, even the admins and teachers suggested using that. But the school is slowly opening up, although they did block clash of clans on the school wifi to the dismay of 99% of year 7 and 8. But i just use my phone when i am not on a school computer. Since i am in 6th form most things aren't blocked but some stuff still is. Teacher accounts have access to anything that isn't "unsuitable". Although someone did open up a website (i think it was meatspin but don't quote me on that) on a teachers computer during break time and turn the volume up to full, it was interesting to see the half the school stood around that classrooms windows laughing along with some teachers who were chuckling a bit. Someone did also print out a giant Nigel Thornberry and hang it out of the upstairs windows, they easily used 50 A4 sheets stuck together.
