    Hey guys,

I know some of you know about street legal and some don't. The guys who made the game, Invictus Games, is making a sequel.

If anyone thinks that is interesting, they can check out the kickstarter campaign to pre order the game.

I've been working with them for a long time now and they have been great, really supportive and taking suggestions as we had them. I think this could be an awesome project.

Beam is one of my favorite games , and of course SLR too. Just like beam, it would be nice to see SLR have a remake.

    Thanks for posting positive comments.

    Let's give this thread a bump. :p

I've always loved the concept behind SLRR, and always looked forward for a newer, nicer version. I'd love to help you guys out, but since I don't have spare money to go wasting on credit cards, for now I'll have to hold back on that. Oh well, goes until February though, let's see if things change until then. :D

    Good luck!

    Hey,

No worries man , not everyone is able to support with a pledge. Sharing the link to others who might be interested is helpful too.

Sadly our community is over 10 years old now and so many people who would care are not around our website anymore :(

It is what it is, its going well, lets hope it continues and picks up a bit more.

Because backing things in kickstarter has never gone horribly wrong before, has it?

I'll pay attention.... but they won't be seeing money from me till they've finished and I can see they've made a good game

they should have taken donations strait from their website. that way even if they don't hit the number they are going for they still get the money to use in the meantime.

Sorry if you got the wrong impression. Not looking for anyones money if they don't feel like this is something that interests them.

Also I think since they aren't a few guys working on the game on their spare time, they probably have a better chance at coming through with the project , since they have done that on this scale more than once in more ridiculous situations. This project will be a walk in the park in comparison to the crazy situations they had to make SLR under, 6 months total with less than half the people.

Well, we thought kickstarter would be good because its a more 'transparent' process and its all or nothing.

The minimum needed to make the base game is the base goal currently, so collecting through a website would mean that they need to refund everyone if they dont meet the amount they need to make the game happen. If they start using the money as the crowd funding is in process and then run out that's just a bad scenario IMO.

Once the base goal is hit, the official website will be open and taking paypal since kickstarter doesn't. after the campaign is over the crowd funding can continue while the base game is developed and hopefully might reach some stretch goals.

Will probably back it at some point the project looks really interesting. The kick starter payment process is a pain though.

Very interesting, a new SLRR game would be fantastic. However I'm hesitant to support what seems to be more of a concept/plan than an actual WIP game.

Yea you're telling me, KS is killing us right now. However we should still make it, just have to stay positive and keep pushing.

Don't support anything if you don't feel 100% comfortable.

This started out as a community campaign really, hoping that we could fund the game within the community because, we thought we had enough people. For years we did, I have 84,000 members regged on my site alone, and there is many more sites. However we are just a few years late on missing that bus.

Hopefully when our old members hear about the news they will be excited, anyone in our community has no doubt the new game will be delivered and knowing the true story of SLR we can't do anything but give Invictus our thanks.

We are getting some traction, so thats good. Thanks for the positive words guys, it's crazy to put something like this together, I would of never expected it to be so mentally intensive. It's really been an 'involving' experience to say the least haha !

As far as I'm aware, if a Kickstarter project fails or turns out to be fraudulent, all backers get a full refund. So you either fund a game that turns out to be real, or you don't and your money comes back.

If that is in fact the case I'll most likely be donating when possible.

EDIT: What will be happening in the worst case, if the project doesn't reach its funding? Will any progress still be made or will it be scrapped?

If the base goal isn't met then your 'pledge' doesn't get processed.

Invictus has made more than one game, more than two or three or four or even five games. Start to finish. I think it's safe to say they will come through with this one too.

It's going well now, I'm happy to see it being received well. Only got some negative from outsiders who just want to be negative because apparently its a hobby now to speak bad about which you know nothing about. Everyone who has been on earth for more than 20 years seems to be very excited and respectful and that is awesome.

We have an interview on carthrottle.com being published later today, hoping that can boost the exposure a little bit.

If the goal isn't met we will scrap the game. The reason for that is, this is also like a 'community poll' right now saying, here is the game... do you want us to make it? For years people begged and begged for this, so now its finally here.. perhaps a little late for some who already left the community.. but it's here now. The chance we all wanted, so if the community doesn't answer with "yes we want it, and here is $15" then why bother ?

It looks like though, that it will be successful. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'de love to see this, really would.

Not entirely sure thats the best way to go about it... cancel the game if you don't meet your kickstarter. There are likely a multitude of people like me who want the game, but previous situations with kickstarter and early access have left a really bad impression. It's either a lot of development going sideways a-la beamNG, or slow progress with no real communication a-La Nextcargame, or a stupid long development time a-La Overgrowth, or it got boring before the official release a-La Minecraft. Space Engineers is the only time this sort of thing has been enjoyable for me. It's not to say these products are bad... but dear god I wish they hadn't announced them till near completion.

so now I prefer to do what I used to do, read about it then get exicted for a release date THEN offer you my money for a complete copy.

Imagine this was any other industry though, Ford launches a kickstarter like "We're gonna release a reliable car, something you've all wanted for years. We're not even going to ruin the Ford Falcon anymore. But we need $15 from you or we won't do it". Or... y'know, budweiser asking $15 in order to make beer that doesn't taste of water or Mcdonalds asking for your money so they can start selling actual food. It's good that they wanna head in that direction but there's something off about holding the product hostage for donations. Especially when there's the matter of pissed off end users in the position of "Yes we want it but dear god no, not the crowd funding bull again".

Hati, You make a great point and I do agree with you on most of that. I hope that my post above didn't come across the wrong way, and it appears that it probably did and that's my fault there.

Not to speak negative because beam is my top 3 right now for best games ever, but the development IMO is crazy, idk whats going on over here but this really disappoints me I hate to say it. In the beginning it was nice to see small improvements all the time and play the latest build etc. Now its looking like it will be Live For Speed.

You gotta take it for what it is I guess, if there was another way to go about this without asking for pre orders, it would be done for sure. The issue is like I've said, the company is too big to afford the up front costs of meeting payroll and all other expenses to develop the game first, and it's too small to have that capital to invest. It's right in the middle, and it sucks.

With BEAM we got lucky because they were able to find the time to put this game together and give us that tech demo and it was awesome. At the same time we see the sacrifice because how long is this game taking? It's starting to feel like forever now :(

So there is advantages and disadvantages and I don't hold anyone accountable for having skeptical opinion, it's understandable and from your perspective I could agree too.

It just comes down to, are you willing to hustle for what you want, I've seen invictus complete games within the craziest of circumstances and timelines , I've seen them deal with the most ridiculous publishers you could imagine demanding the most worthless changes to a project.. and what did they do, they always delivered.. and for anything that wasn't perfect I'de say show me another developer who would of taken that project and done better for the same money and timeline with the same size team.

Anyways, your input is definitely valid and agreed to on my end.

You have to understand how Invictus will feel if the campaign isn't successful, we all understand people are hesitant, but after all this , 60 days of night and day talking about the project.. and people dont seem like they want it.. you as a developer, will you still decide to risk everything and make it anyways ? Personally, i'm a risk taker, that's why im at where i'm at I can't credit anything I have or have done without talking about risks involved. This is one of them, but I speak for me when I take risks.. if Invictus takes a risk they speak for 50 people who could lose their career, over a game.

I'm just happy that right now, the campaign is looking good, so I'm just going to keep pushing and if I can say one thing, I won't be here when its over saying "i could of done more".

Just backed for $50 because why not.

Good luck with everything to do with the game, I know Invictus can make some great games and I want to see what they can do without a publisher.

What's your own involvement in the project right now? I know you've been the guy spreading the word and essentially kicking it off with Invictus at first, but are you a part of their team now or just a sort of PR guy working with them?

For right now just running the campaign and doing the PR stuff. We've been friends for years so its nothing too surprising.

I'll be pretty well involved with the game development / direction as well when it gets to that point, a link between them and the community to help organize input / suggestions etc.

Actually I agree with your well rounded, reasonable response. I can see it from your end now. I won't donate, but I will be eagerly waiting for more signs. Despite your good track record over at invictus there's also a track record of good developers falling flat. So I'll eagerly await more news and hope it's good news. Die hard fans will hopefully be able to give the impression of Yes. Invictus will be getting my support when I'm less apprehensive at release... but yeah, I agree. It's risky if you don't take that sign and the funding.

This seems like it's going to be successful, I'll wait a bit before backing tho.
Just a question, will this game be free when it's released or will it be a paid game?
