I’m pretty sure you can’t skin wheels like that, but I could always be wrong. At least, nobody’s ever done that for all I know, and this approach: Is what most (modders and devs) do
to save on having tons of mesh copies, you can use the same mesh and use a material override in the jbeam, as seen in some of the T-series parts.
This mod gets the Racer Cinema Productions Seal of Approval as you have done an outstanding job on it. I always love seeing prewar cars in BeamNG.drive. I do have a couple of suggestions tho. Would it be possible to make a RHD version of this car as the Model A was also sold in Australia? I didn't want to be another one of those people suggesting hot rod configs and I wanted to suggest something that would be different. I've also been doing research on finding European-spec Model As and I found out that they too were sold in the UK. Believe it or not, I've actually went to great lengths to search both of these models on Google. The more you know. Here's proof of the AUDM Ford Model A and yes, they do exist: https://thevaultms.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/DSC09352.jpg And, I also found a pic of a UKDM Ford Model A Phaeton: https://handh.blob.core.windows.net/stock/20058870-54.jpg?v=63830651203713
I do believe that they were added on at some point. So yeah, they were most likely an aftermarket accessory as I've looked up another example of the UK spec Ford Model A without them: https://treasuredcars.com/public/uploads/2019/12/22/ford_model_a_phaeton-1928-20191222184037-1.jpeg Although, I could be wrong. Also interesting to note that the UK models have a smaller nearly 2,043 Inline-4 compared to the larger 4-cylinder that the other Model As had. This made the UK models slower due to different regulations. I've also read that the Model A wasn't as popular in Europe as it was in North America. Thus, it would make it a collector's car nowadays and is said to be rarer than the North American spec Ford Model As themselves.
I know right hand drive model a's exist. I have to think about it. It would be a lot of extra work making two versions of the steering linkage, pedals, dashboard etc. And there are no right hand drive maps i believe. So put it on a maybe, or a later update. Yes UK and French model A's have smaller engine capacity, because of taxes based on horsepower. Visually these engines look the same, so i van just make a copy of the engine with lower internal volume and less power. And yes in Europe they are more rare, but there are still a lot driving around. Especially in the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany there are a lot of Model As. Still pretty affordable, and lots of people still drive around in them, although most have been imported from the US in recent decades. i would not call them collectors cars, unless you are talking about rare variants. No retro reflectors are always a modern addition for extra safety. The original car only had a single rear and brake light on the left side, and no orange flashers either. Retro reflectors are made of plastic as far as i know, (i've never seen glass ones, but maybe they exist) and plastic was not really used yet in the time of Model A production
Thanks for the info and yeah, I understand that RHD configs would be extra work. I still look forward to seeing this mod whenever it's finished. It is a mod that I would be down to pay for whenever as I like the idea of a prewar car being added into BeamNG.drive. And, thank you for your time. It's been nice being able to talk to you and I can tell that this mod is going to be lots of fun when it's finished.
I was more or less expecting this car to be called the Gavril model P or E, but this name is charming as well.
yeah, i went through all the names, but non really fit, and i wanted some freedom to build my own lore.
I personally think that the wheel system in BeamNG just needs an update altogether, as it is very cluttered and strange. I've seen some mods that have the wheel type, then size, then color, which is a much better system.
I plan on making a map of my hometown as it was in the 1920s/30s (complete with tram lines, saw mills, etc) and this vehicle will fit in perfectly, for screenshots, and for lore accuracy. Side note, if anyone wants to make a 1920s American tram... I'll pay for it
I think being restrained to only 3 colors needs to change to 3 + wheel for 3 color selectors in total --- Post updated --- DM me on discord at 'therealalicewhite'
