Solved EXTREMELY LAGGY TERRAIN PAINTER

    Hi, I've got an issue with the tarrain painter, it was fine just 2 days ago - when I paint anything doesn't show up and if I press ctrl+z it sometimes works and sometimes don't, sometimes if I paint over it it shows up, sometimes it only shows up partially and it's just very random in general, please help I can't continue making my map like this!

    Ok, I figured it out - I have to undo and redo for changes to show up but then I can't undo it and I still can't see what I'm painting while painting.

    Strange o_O. I'd like to help, but I don't have an immediate answer.

    Brainstorm: I only know that painting on the hole map (for tunnels and such) doesn't give me any visual feedback. You have to paint something somewhere so that it becomes visible.

    Are you using PBR ground materials?
    How many layers do you have?
    Or could it be an offset?
    Are the terrain size details correct?
    Can you export terrain layers?
    Do they look logical?
    Have you opened the console and checked whether errors keep cropping up?

    Idk. Maybe we have some luck and can find a reason for your problem....

    I don't use PBR and I don't even know what terrain layers are. But I can tell that it works fine on roads where I mostly use it, but still is laggy near building for some reason. Luckily I'm not placing many buildings lately and won't in the future - I used it to make driveways. Conclusion - it's alright, but laggy near buildings and I'm not placing buildings anymore.

    Try to disable shadows temporarilly (Graphics menu). Maybe that's the reason why it lags, cause buildings throw shadows and they have to be updated if you draw something underneath. M a y b e ...
    You also could try to hide (all) the building(s) when you draw, as a workaround.

    (this is non PBR)

    ...the different ground materials you can choose from plus holemap (plus depthmap if present). If you have (too) many of them, it might lag additionally.

    The FPS in the WorldEditor is always lower than in play mode.

    Maybe your machine isn't that fast and it's a sum of many reasons.
    And: Do not forgett to backup your work always and frequently! Especially when you try to change some map settings.

    Edit:
    Additionally you could disable the grass and things, cause they also have to be updated on every paint stroke. This may speed up FPS and reduce the lags, too.
