Oh, I also forgot to show off the WIP liveries that will be available for the truck. First one is based on the 1993 Nevada 400 race appearance. This next is going to be the basic layout for the colorable plain livery based on the SNES game Super Off Road: The Baja. There will be a starter preset but each color swatch will be fully colorable to whatever you want. The only static colors will be the white base coat and black accents for the flags and other parts. If possible the flags will be made to have custom number plates like a license plate.
So, not much to share for this month, still plugging along. We feel like we have enough of a model to start JBeaming so we can get a working example for testing in game. ETA on that is maybe a month or two? Depends on how the model geometry lines up. We can always finish the model after but the goal is we start JBeaming now and finish modeling the main parts we're missing later. In the mean time, I'm sharing the bodywork UVs in case anyone wants to make liveries for the project. We will have all the wheels and tires so any of the running years from 1989 to 1993 are free game, except the 1993 Nevada 400, which is done already thanks to Jason Luna. The 1991 season is one number and one sponsor layout for all the race appearances, so that would be easy to texture.
Just skimmed the thread. If you want to put this truck up on the repository, you could maybe put it under the LKS name of you're so inclined. I noticed you were having a dilemma with the name, and I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring
We already thought of that, I tossed around the name Hirochi Ironman, built by the sponsor-backed race shop of Accuracy Construction Enterprises or ACE, which would be a fictional synonym for the shop that really built it, Precision Preparation Incorporated or PPI. Ironman of course would be Ivan Stewart’s well-earned handle named for the Valvoline Ironman trophy of some 4 decades ago, give or take. One problem with that is we won’t have any lore-friendly wheels for the truck to use. They’re all real wheels modeled for the truck when it was driven around deserts in Baja and the US South West deserts of Nevada, California, and Arizona. There is no 15x8 truck wheel for our needs and certainly no 35x12.5” tires that fit that size either. As much as I would want this on the repo, it does not seem possible with what we want to do with it, unless someone wants to make a set of lore friendly wheels and tires for it (that are not already what we’ve planned, like the J52 Screamers or those crawling/mud tires), its highly unlikely.
