Hello, I've been learning how to make my own time trial, all was going well as I had a two lap TT set up, with a working prefab. After testing, I decided I needed to edit the prefab to make some changes, I opened the file, unpacked it and made the necessary changes, I then repacked the prefab and overwrote the old file thinking it would just update as normal. When I tested the level, all of the objects I placed were now gone, and reopening the prefab doesn't spawn any of the objects either. It's a shame that I lost about an hour of work but I mostly just want to know what I did wrong so I can avoid it in the future. What is the correct way to edit and update a prefab for a time trial, and what was the reason I lost all my placed objects? Thanks!
Can I just be direct, even if it sounds a bit unexpected? The correct way to edit and update a prefab is presumably like you did but you forgot to make backups of your work. That's an essential part of any work with the World Editor. The reason you lost all your placed objects is that BeamNG is in alpha state and has not only a few bugs. Sometimes things get lost and you're on the one and only right path if you have backups. Hope that helps for the future. I hope you can start over again .
Thanks, absolutely will make backups from now on haha. Just curious as to what specifically went wrong though, but if it was just a bug then fair enough.
