Y A L P P P ! (yet another large progress picture party) Not drowning but diving into work: that's the challange . After doing some further progress at the far Nodhinge Hill airport and the baja sports gravel pit I returned to the south coast and the adjacent desert and pushed everything to the limits, like it should. I sculpted the edge mile by mile and it is still not finished. I brought a new semi abandoned whale fishing village in and placed many challenging steep offroad passages.
I also had some great success creating a whale watching spot with animated distant whales in the ocean (super FPS friendly ). But I decided, that should be a thing you will be able enjoy when there's a first release. Days get longer on the hemisphere I live on and I think christmas could be a nice event for that ! Read below! Why do I not release it right now? The reason is that, as mentioned somewhere above, I do not have systematic progress. It's plenty of progress, but I let it flow a bit and see what idea comes next. So there are big enchanting areas but they have untouched, ugly parts. I don't want you to drive around a beautiful corner and run into such a raw place with no design at all. It would be a sudden quality loss and in bad impression. So I will finish some complete areas first. I hope and beg you to understand this. If I feel it is the right moment, I'll start the rockets .
hey just a suggestions dont make it too big that land of sands looks like the showroom map in comparaison --- Post updated --- also suggestions make the a 4 lane wide 100 mph speed limit highway
Yeah, thanks, Scroll upwards, if you like! The 12km 4 lane highway is finished and the desert, you see in the pics above is only a 1/8 part of the complete desert. In the first post you can see the sizes a bit.
A the moment, I have full access to all assets of nearly all vanilla maps. In addition to that I have made plenty of dedicated own assets, be it 3D objects or textures. It's 5.32GB now. But: for a release version all unused things will be deleted, so I only can estimate for now: maybe like italy let's say ~2.5GB or even below.
Wait YOU ARE GONNA HUNT WHALES ?? gonna call the popo (im a snitch and im proud of it (ill never snitch irl))
This will be a great map for roleplaying, looking forward to it, great job. Will there be a place for these road assistent cars? That would be asome.
Yes, I also like role playing and whenever I come up with a new area, I'm thinking of what can be done there. What would people (and their cars) do and what would the work. I have three fire stations for now and there are road maintenance stations, too . --- Post updated --- - --- .-- . .-. -. .... -. "Chhhkr ... Tower HNH: You are clear to land on runway seven ... Chk Chkr" I also had the idea to realize a bit more the feeling of "life" on the airport. So now the tower Hotel November Hotel (Homerange Nodehinge Hill) serves the plane traffic with audio radio messages. They are additionaly fed into the BeamNG's messaging system. It depends on what activity and movement pattern of the aircraft the control tower detects. So if a plane comes in for landing (5km away) or wants to takeoff or taxi you can hear the air traffic control sending out the appropriate messages. It also checks whether the runway is free and clear for landing and informs you as a pilot (if not: "traffic, traffic, traffic, abort landing! "). I implemented everything in LUA and the planes do not have to have something like a receiver at all. I don't think I need to tell you how much fun it is to use the airport. The Nodhinge Hill airport will be a nice place to play and fulfill different roles.
Zzzzzzz The VIPs of the community are trying to evaporate their time by collectively customizing themselves with the same profile picture. Baby, I'm bored. Maybe they could introduce some kind of model glue for the World Editor. That way they could sniff it every now and then, giving them a chance to wake up in a new map! No! I was just kidding . OT: Today I have touched the big mountain again with plenty of progress, and had a complete overhaul of my sunlight/shadow and sky settings. Since many colors are taken from gradients according to daytime now, I have more control over the twilight phases. But it is a bit hard to edit the gradients for their part if needed. So I have replicated them as Photoshop gradients, what makes it way more easy to change a color (fading) or shift it in time. And it's a nondestructive editing, what was the main reason for me to go that way. So again I have a little giveaway for you to avoid boredom: Easy gradient editing with Photoshop! The files are split horizontaly in an editable and an original zone so you can easily compare them and see exactly what you changed. Export the edited part as PNG with a single pixel of height and the appropriate width. Maybe you find them useful and lead you to your personal bright sky! If so please credit .
This is incredible. You are an inspiration. I've recently started looking into map making and your work is really inspiring while setting the bar so high that my efforts seem futile at times It's all good tho, BeamNG maps need to evolve and you are showing us ways how it can be done. As I've been combing these forums for map-making knowledge your name has been popping up a lot. Thanks for all the help! As for this thread, take your time with the map as this thread in itself is a masterpiece.
Thank you, I really appreciate your words ! The high bar you mentioned only applies to me. I set myself high standards because I wanted a map that was entirely to my "taste". But you shouldn't compare the different maps and approaches to each other in the way of a "should" or "can never reach", because what counts is creativity and the fun it causes! The feeling of being creative is an essential part of well-being, imo. I'm happy to pass on the "HOW".
