    I have a laptop with an RTX 3070 and Ryzen 9 5900HX and am also getting much worse performance across the board in Vulkan in 0.33. West Coast USA loads, but stutters, and large, demanding maps like Fairhaven and Los Injurus either give up loading entirely or load and then freeze immediately. In 0.32, every map ran better on Vulkan with the exception of Los Injurus and American Road, and even then only with dynamic reflections turned on. I have also double-confirmed that the game is running on the RTX 3070 instead of the integrated graphics.

    I'm not sure if others have experienced same, but it seems to be impossible to change resolution from 1920x1080 which is highest option and native resolution.

    When I select 1280x720 resolution and press apply, resolution just simply refuses to change.
    I would like to play at lower resolution as some text are slightly larger and easier to read in world editor when using lower resolution.

    Borderless and Exclusive behave in same manner it seems.

    I can change resolution in DX11 mode normally, but when I start Vulkan version resolution will change to 1920x1080 so that when launching DX11 version resolution is again 1920x1080. perhaps designed to be so or a bug?.

    AMD Ryzen 9 5900x
    Nvidia RTX 4070 driver 565.90 also issue persisted with much older driver version

    okay, this has been pretty annoying for all of us :mad:

    steam deck (doesnt really matter). native linux binary (vulkan, obviously). hirochi raceway freezes mid loading and then shuts down my device or it sometimes freezes just the screen and i can control the vehicle in the background! however, this happens only if the cache was cleared in "~/.local/share/BeamNG.drive/0.33/temp", because if i load some other maps to cache them first (first simple, then larger), then hirochi raceway does, indeed, load nicely and without freezes. otherwise, vulkan on linux performs without an issue (just have to make sure you enable vulkan pre-caching!). and i know that you are aware of this problem... :oops::p

    EDIT: actually, nevermind. the memory leaks have become SO BAD they freeze my whole system without a kernel panic, forcing me to hard reset. at first it was random, then every time i spawn a second vehicle in, then again, in the loading screen, just like on windows. all the time, with cache or not, without mods or not.

    EDIT2: ATTENTION TO ALL STEAM DECK USERS, do not increase the UMA frame buffer (VRAM) higher than 1 GB! this has been the source of my memory leaks, at least. however, this doesnt fix the fundamental problem with beamNG itself


    steam deck (again, it's just a miniature pc, no matter). windows 10, vulkan (!). kinda same story here! ever since november ~11-14-ish (could be earlier) when there was also a windows update (related?), beamng always freezes in the loading screen or freezes shortly after loading into a map (after which it never loads in again). the cpu/gpu/ssd activity seems to be 0%, except for abnormal straight line of 80% ram (possible memory leak (!?), and there are only 3 beamng threads (aka allocated cores) for the graphics, audio and the UI (!!! see edit below !!!), meaning it didnt even load the vehicle thread in (which is nevertheless also a clue!), however, i can hear the environment ambiance, so it fails somewhere between loading the UI and the vehicle. fan stopped running shortly after, further to confirm it is not trying to load anything in the loading screen anymore. no crash reports, i am the one killing the process. true, there are people like me in the steam discussions and in the third party multiplayer mod also reporting the same vulkan issue - it stopped working a few weeks ago. perhaps only an update will fix this. oh, and before you ask, it still persists without mods and/or in safe mode. o_Oo_O

    EDIT3: since then i have abandoned windows for linux. vulkan beamng just doesnt work on windows anymore, period.

    also, the person below me described the same issue i have been experiencing ever since 0.23 - i am unable to switch to other resolutions in vulkan. it uses the native screen resolution, but if you try to pick anything else - it simply doesnt apply it, it then resets back to native. i should mention this doesnt happen with all monitors, i cant seem to find a reason why. anyway, i thought this is a much more known problem but i dont care anymore, whatever. by the way, i dont know what kind of "exclusive" mode they seem to have found in there, beamng is made with such outdated code that it NEVER had exclusive fullscreen anyhow :confused:

    P.S.: i found something important. the same error in the engine:loadWindowPositionFromFile (path not found) appears for all of us using vulkan, followed by other UI related errors and warnings. however, in un-related forum threads since this november, including but not limited to, launching the game with the -worldeditor argument, this error is also present. could it be that it fails to load MainGEUI and doesn't know what to do and just stops in the middle of the loading screen? maybe it's the ImGui being broken again? or perhaps it's literally the renderer (vulkan) freezing? wait a minute, is beamNG even able to run without the UI thread or does it crash immediately? if only a certain someone could investigate this further... but it could be nothing though... unless?

    In Vulcan mode, when switching to traffic cars using the tab key, fps drops to 15-16. At the same time, everything is fine in directx 11. And also sometimes, literally for 1 millisecond, the screen turns partially white or green. This is clearly not a problem with the video card, because there is no such thing in directx 11

    Please report issues only from BeamNG 0.34 from now on :)
    I'd like to announce that Vulkan is now pretty much in the Beta stage, and we are using it internally as a default renderer daily

    Vulkan seems to be still stuck in desktop resolution in 0.34, option box allows choice of different resolutions, but resolution seems not to be changed. Choosing resolution does work normally in DX11 mode.

    Unfortunately, I am still having the exact same problems I reported earlier. I have an RTX 3070 with driver version 566.14 DCH WHQL and only the NVIDIA Control Panel installed, not the new NVIDIA App, GeForce Experience or the GeForce Overlay. I am not sure if it is the Studio or Game Ready driver and there is stupidly NO way of checking which one it is after installation; maybe later I will try the latest Game Ready driver since I suspect it could be the Studio version (and is outdated anyway).

    Hey there! I don't think I can really add much to this update as the results are almost identical as in 0.33...
    Trying to load any map bigger than GridMap freezes the game in the loading screen, drops the GPU usage to 0% and starts eating all of the RAM.
    I have only been able to load into WCUSA by setting my graphics to lowest on the main menu, but as soon as I try to set them any higher than that the game refuses to respond.
    It's quite a shame but it is what it is, I can provide more info if needed to help fix this issue :p

    I have an issue where the games slows down to about 15fps from 100fps usually, it seems to happen on big maps like italy or wcusa

    as when vulkan came out a while back, it seems to be caused by high framepresent stutters

    Got a problem when using Vulkan. When i trying to load with vulkan, the game load but fps is around 10-15. Cpu load 100% by FramePresent. Any solution or new version bug?
    I5-11400f
    Rx7600
    16gb ddr4 3600.

    Vulkan no longer works after the 0.34 update, I was able to play before the update with no problems and my PC still can run DX11 with the 11_0 code.

    The maps wont load. It freezes the game in the loading screen. The game launches fine other than the fact that I cant change resoultion which has already been mentioned.

    EDIT: some maps crash with lowest texture quality setting

    linux native, vulkan. mod maps, specifically the maps that were ported as one .dae file, immediately crash in the loading screen. no other mods are enabled, temp folder (cache) empty. there are zero foreboding errors, as soon as it starts the "GELua.levelLoading| Level loading" process, there are only warnings such as these:

    createTexture| texture invalid filepath '/levels/levelname/filename' corrected to '/levels/levelname/filename.dds'

    and it goes on and on, it continues until it abruptly stops in the middle of the sentence, and a crash report window opens. by clicking "close program" nothing happens, i have to xkill beamng, but then that is not enough and i have to stop it through steam o_O

    is it a matter of "oh this isnt in the vanilla asset library therefore we have a problem houston"?

    EDIT: no, the 0.34.1 patch did NOT fix the problem

    out of topic, but this neverending clash between vulkan and CEF (chromium embedded framework) reminds me of garry's mod, that you have to patch in order to make it work. does anyone remember GModCEFCodecFix? there might be some clue in there :rolleyes:

    Anyway to change resolution something other than native? Only get 25fps on 4k and want to run 1080p but doesnt allow me to change, has always been like this since introduction of vulkan all way up til 0.34.1.

    Dx11 is fine changing resolutions

    When using vulkan with traffic turned on, whenever a new traffic car pops in while I'm driving it only spawns around 20-50m in front of me, meaning there is no time to react and avoid it. This happens on all maps, including mod maps, and doesn't happen in the base game. Everything else is loading as usual, it's just the traffic that has extreme pop-in. Is there any settings that might help fix this?
