Hello! As the title suggests I am curious if BeamNG not working on Apple Silicon is because of the Games engine or Implementation ingame. I play on a beefy Desktop for content creation which works great but attempted on my old Ultrabook and it worked surprisingly well considering the specs making me want to try it on my M2 Mac.
theres barely any market for mac gaming so even if its a "its not implemented" reason, its not worth it to port
Understandable but I do think there is starting to be a market there slowly considering the raw horsepower these newer macs have had. Again though I understand your view
I don't think it'll run at same performance, since Apple Silicon is ARM, and BeamNG is mainly made for x86-64. There's a lot of overhead for emulation. Plus amount of Apple Silicon user that plays game is small. BTW there's someone playing it on Apple M3 macbook air, and fps is not even 30 You'll have better chance playing beamng on linux + x86-64.
The raw horsepower to a large degree stems from the architecture – you see it get great performance in tasks like video rendering because those usually don't need all the fancy stuff x86 offers. For BeamNG, though, that raw horsepower of top-of-the-line Macs will likely put you somewhere between budget gaming laptops and premium budget gaming laptop.
