We've seen that there has been progress made, like the hirochi's engine and ECA map tweaks, why not upload them? Its been 40 days?
I vote to never have any more threads like this. Yes, everybody knows that delevopment is slow. Do we really need a thread every couple weeks made by an impatient whiny person telling us that? No. Do we *really* want more broken, unfinished content? The game is broken enough as it is. Idk about others, but I dont want the game to be *more* broken, just for the sake of a couple insignificant things like the hirochi engine. So really, no more stupid threads like this. Just sit down, shut up, be patient, and be happy when the next update is released.
The entire purpose of the Experimental branch is for trying and testing new and buggy content. The stable branch is being misused too. The Devs should upload the parts that work to the stable branch. Its just so far behind the experimental branch now because they aren't touching it.
Let the devs do what they do at their own pace. Making threads like these will *not* make development any faster, if anything they make it slower. They just annoy the devs, and instead of spending time working on the game, they spend time on this thread trying to quell the whinyness of impatient people. This thread is literally a waste of time.
You're correct about it not affecting the speed of development in any significant way. Thats not what I'm asking for or expecting to happen. I'm simply requesting that they upload whatever they have done, letting the players use what the devs have made. Why wouldn't we want the changes?
If you pay attention to what the devs have said in past threads just like this one, they dont upload whats done because it is BROKE. I dont want the game to be more broken, do you?
They uploaded the part config. Thats broken, and I'm fine with it. They should upload the broken and incomplete things to the experimental branch, that's its purpose. But they also need to upload complete and stable features to the stable branch, that's its purpose.
IBsenoj: "Why can't you guys release the builds you're using? (like every week) I don't get it. That's the whole point of the experimental branch. IMHO" Gabester: "Because a lot of things are very, very broken right now." http://www.beamng.com/threads/11411-Gavril-D-15-Floating-Halfshaft-Issue?p=173674#post173674
We only ever get development updates when we ask for them, so I don't really mind these threads anymore.
Nope. "Sitting down and shutting up" just ain't in my DNA baby. There will be threads like this for time eternal. Why?, because folks have a right to make them and ask what's up with their investment. Responses like yours are getting very tiresome and old. Perhaps taking a bit of your own advice would do you good, when folks excersie their right to ask what's going on you can "sit back, shut up and be patient". Yeah.
SOURCE: Experimental-Alpha-Branch-available-now-on-Steam They need to update the stable build. Breaking the experimental branch shouldn't be a concern. If they update it whenever they make changes it will only be broken for short periods of time, you'd just use the stable build in the meantime. But they need to update the stable branch too, otherwise the whole system fails. Why don't they upload the physics optimizations to the stable branch? They haven't mentioned any issues with them currently.
We still haven't gotten the update that we were told was "coming up" over a year ago. I'd say this time next year we'll just have another redesigned ui and no new gameplay features, because that's the way this development is going.
That's a bit pessimistic I think. We'll see a major MAJOR update before then. I still do not understand the game plan of releasing the PRU last June with all it's promissory trimmings and then doing a 180 and releasing the Experimental build and letting the PRU (stable), just rot away into the sunset. I'm certainly no developer and do not pretend to be but this is sheer marketing insanity and releasing on Steam with all this is just incomprehensible to me.
If all you want is a developer response, then I'd recommend doing a quick forums search. Out of the hundreds of threads that are absolutely identical to yours, many have addressed by the devs. Yes, we're all aware that development is slow, but tdev's debatably sound answer isn't going to change.
Glad you're here. You NEED to update the stable branch. Upload whatever features work. Its too far behind to matter currently
