I checked in on this mod, and apparently something changed in the way the game reads dae files or something at some point, and now the shading is all messed up and I have to fix it manually. It doesn't affect 'normal' mods as they have manually marked sharp edges while this just used autosmooth because at some point in the past the original blend source was lost as far as I know and it had to be imported from dae and fixed in a quick hacky way. That's not ideal, will take a lot of time to fix likely, as I have to get an old version of the mod and manually compare sharp edges and mark them, as auto smooth no longer gives good enough results since the last Blender update. And there are a lot of parts to check and fix. So yeah don't expect any progress for a while. Might as well use the opportunity to clean up my source the same way vanilla cars are as it makes it much easier to work on. Edit: It wasn't too hard after all, already done, needed some modifier changes, and most broken parts I re-edited from old version.
Wow! If this is coming from you, who made the toy building block car, I already know that this is going to be a great mod. Do you have an estimate of when it will come out? ( don't rush, take your time) When it does, can you put police cars from real places, like NYPD, SFPD, or CHP cars?
Given that the last estimate was years (that I remember) & taking the new information into account, I'd say 2028.
We're just glad someone is working on it, so thank you. Hopefully someone will be able to come in & help get things moving along at a quicker pace at some point though.
So I think I fixed all the outdated stuff, fixed the UV map and started converting all the skins to PBR, so far the Delta 88 ones are done. 98 ones will have to be modified, and all others redone from scratch to fit the new skin UV. I removed some useless duplicates like the non colorable crash test skins and the metallic variants, and added some more skins using the existing textures, like non rusty beater skins and less rusty ones. So for now it has this many and the number will probably double in the finished demo version and might triple or quadruple in the final one.
Just a random thought, but I do have a custom engine sound recorded from my IRL car (1982 Pontiac Firebird, 305 V8) that you could use on this

I could post the UVs when the demo is out so people can make even more skins and I could include the best ones in the mod too. But this will already have so many skins even without that, and all of them will work on all bodies hopefully
A few new skins have been added. Bluesmobile inspired retired cop, close replica of the Delta 88 from Roadkill S7E10, very close replica of the Delta 88 taxi that hits the Joker in Joker movie, and a new skin for the police dragster to make it stand out more. And a maybe close to final list of Delta 88 configs for the demo. Need to prepare one for the Custom Cruiser too Still there are many things to iron out before the demo comes out but maybe I can finish it this year. It won't be perfect yet in terms of skins and UVs, will tweak more after it.
