From what i remember, pricorde had that, and also at the time the development of (today somwhat old) Outerra was begining, and he though it would be kinda cool to slap these together, and so the idea of ror came. I came to RoR sometime around ver 0.29, when the Linux client was still being developed, so this is just a story i heard.

Pricorde never had anything to do with outerra or bridge builder. He got inspired by bridge builder, but was not its author or alike. Idk how you even correlated outerra and RoR, they have no connection at all.

nonono, i didn't mean it like that, i meant it like, that at that time, he got INSPIRED from outerra (at the time it was a drive around sandbox with nothing to do), and he bashed the N/B and vehicle idea together and got RoR

afaik RoR is much older than outerra. If I remember correctly he was inspired by games like bridge builder and 1nsane both of which use similar (1nsane had a very basic version of it) a node/beam physics idea. 1nsane is also open world so again that is part of where the idea came from.

Hell yeah, now we're getting somewhere! Thanks for all the info guys. I will definitely give the bridge building program a look and it makes perfect sense
that a beam/node program would be born from that ( I think I got that right ). I'm a big skyscraper fan and can imagine the similarities.

So cool to know where and how this came to be!

hey tDev, is there any specific reason your taking pictures of the screen instead of taking a screenshot? (windows 8/8.1 actually has it built in now, just windows key + PrtSc and it saves a screenshot to C:\Users\UserNameHere\Pictures\Screenshots)

that pc is for build updating, not for screenshotting, i'd assume. he also was setting up the pc, so it probably isn't a big priority to take screenshots from a program that he'd have to install on that pc.

i meant take screenshots when he started posting the pictures of what's on screen

also in windows 8/8.1 (what he installed on it) you don't have to isntall anything extra, screenshoting functionality coems built in, just winkey+prtsc and it saves it so the screenshots folder in the pictures folder, so that all you have to do is upload it somewhere (in this case the beamng forums) ;)

Screenshotting has been a thing since at least before Windows XP. The only thing that might be new is not having to paste your images from the clipboard to save them. Considering the things he's capable of I'm sure tdev knows this already and has his reasons for not screenshotting things.

What's the latest on the steering committee, Torque integration/ planned new Torque features? Will they, if any, be included in a coming update?

Hey guys, I could be wrong, but I think the devs might want to post stuff here without questions or the off-color comments we've been having. Positive responses and on-topic discussions I'm sure are fine but if we have people asking about if they have had any engine experience or asking about new releases and features it just turns into the devblogs. Let this be a place they can just post small tidbits without being harassed IMO. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Devs might not mind it the way it is though.

You might have a point here. It is a personal blog so we should assume it's all about finding drive cables and empty cups of coffee. No one has brought anything
to this thread from previous threads that I'm aware of and I certainly don't intend to. Chill out will ya?
