They're probably licensed, so they legally have to lock them

would be really really fun if they did implement some features+ability to change out to modern parts to make them automatic
unfortunately its probably unlikely thatll all be coded in unless theyve been working on it for a while now as they have to make deadlines and all+they might not think it fits in with the rest of the game

Depending on the state of Ange's engine simulator at the time, i might use that, otherwise I will record my own sounds from my own pre-war car. Recording is always a bit more frustrating though of a driving car, since there is so many other noises like the tires and squeaks and environment etc. And ultimately i want to isolate the gearbox sound from the engine sound, but that's going to be hard, since they are both very loud.

I do want different sounds for when the engine is under load for example. and it would be great to automatically record different rpms with some tool connected to the laptop while recording. Maybe i can wip something up with an audrino and a reflector on the crank pulley

Yes I know, recording good engine sound while driving is a real pain. But if you manage it will be worth it. I got some usable results by using 2 microphones simultaneously, 1 directly above the exhaust (on most cars its just hard to find a place sheltered from wind noise) and the other in the engine bay, maybe even adding a little induction noise, depending on the vehicle.
It the case of a pre war car I can imagine that some rattles and squeaks in the recording will actually be beneficial to the endresult because these cars just make a lot of different noises, so it will just add to the feeling and authenticity.
IMO the sound is one of the, if not the most important thing in a car mod. Its the same as in a video, the eye might forgive some mistakes but the ear won´t. Its a make it or break it thing. So if there is not a super realistic engine sound simulator, recording real sounds will be worth it.

The squeaks and rattles i can record separately by having the car run down dead end a bumpy road and turning off the engine while rolling. That way there is no sound from the engine.
Gearboxes aren't really that audible on modern cars so the engine bay, and tail pipe would be enough. but the straight big gears on a pre-war car are very audible, especially with worn gears, so they are very important to record. I could do the same, turning off the engine and holding the clutch in. while leaving it in gear, but then the gears wouldn't be under load. So the sound might be a bit different. We'll see what I get.

No. it increases! This car does look slightly older than the one that the devs are making, and nothing like this has ever been done before in Beamng (besides through Automation). This, along with the Hank and the dev's new car is definately going to spark up a lot of popularity for vintage cars!

@ryanisstigg no, it isn't, but the engine was found in the game files a while ago. It should be added in 0.34, around Christmas.
Edit: Oops, I thought you were talking about the vanilla car

The large project I've been working on the past year (for a client) has taken a lot longer than planned, so far haven't found the time yet to get stuff in game.

The new car might be useful with the Jbeams for the leaf suspension. Since they also gave that one a transverse mounted leafspring.

I was wondering what was going to happen to this as the Nine has kinda filled the niche of super old cars since, besides the Heron, we don't really have that many. Glad to see it won't be dying.

Yeah I was worried about the niche being filled at first, but people seem really excited about it anyway.

The new car seems to be more focused on hotrods etc, and is quite simple in terms of casual outfit options.

Yeah, almost half the configs for the Nine are hotrods of some variety, from bootlegger-mobiles to fully-fledged dragsters - which is understandable, as quite a few people really wanted to see those be a thing officially. Thankfully, with the Nine now out, you'll likely be getting much fewer requests for hot rods, which I imagine is quite nice.

This is also a bit older than the Nine, so I feel like this would still fill a niche for some people (and it being directly based on a real car would also make some people more interested in this than the Nine).

Looking back the bruckell nine seems to be based on a completely different model, Presumably a newer one, So do not give up on this project i really think the hype is still there plus i think the nine's jbeam could help you, also What's better than One pre-war vehicle you may ask? Two.
