When you hold down the recovery vehicle button on a FFB wheel, the force feedback is still active for your actual vehicle. Many times while recovering you can't see your car cause the ghost is far away or over a cliff, so you can't anticipate when there will be a jolt of force (made worse by the fact that you usually recover while crashing badly).

At best it's annoying cause sometimes it makes your finger slip off the recover button on the wheel. At worst, you hurt yourself because you weren't anticipating some crazy hit that sends 20 nm to your thumb.

I think that would be a cool and safe feature!
