"Not enough free disk space" for updates despite having more than enough

Almost every update I will need to have the full size of beamng available on my computer to be able to download the new content. With 0.34, despite steam saying the update is only ~700 mb, and my computer having 39gb free, it will stop the download as soon as I start it and say "not enough free disk space." Because of this, I can't launch the game, not even to be able to load into safe-mode or access and settings in game.

It seems like every update, I need to have the full 50gb that steam takes up on my computer. Normally, if I have the space, it will download the additionally content at a sorta slow speed, and it never seems to actually download another 50gb of anything. (Also idk if it normally would, but steam doesn't say how much storage I need to install the update)

Not sure if it exactly is a steam issue or beam issue, but I've only gotten it with this game. Any suggestions or comments help

 

Yeah that's needed because of the way steam patches the game files with whatever files are changed in an update. It needs the full space of the game files x2, regardless of how small the download is

 

That's just a Steam bug, I've less than 20 GB free on my PC and I'm still able to update the game. For some people Steam is just being stupid for no reason.
