I always took it to mean the car had fuel injection, and that the base trim should've had a carb.
Or just the fact that it's the I-Series (and perhaps the base trims are so low spec that they don't deserve the I-Series designation?)

And I believe the AWD on everything is supposed to be based on whatever Audi was doing at the time, since the car is a blend of BMW/Merc/Audi anyway.

He said he’s never doing BeamNG again.

The "2400" badge doesn't make any sense since, like I said, the 2.4 I6 is a bit too large to be the base engine in a German Executive Saloon. The "2000" badge makes perfect sense for this purpose and I found a way of distinguishing the "2000i" from the "2000": the "2000" could be a 4-cylinder while the "2000i" could be a 6-cylinder, with a bit more power. After all, small I6s are missing from the sim and this is the perfect opportunity.
As for the ttSport configs being weird, I agree: they should either be available with RWD or AWD. Having both makes no sense, especially since the I-Series was made in an era when there was no distinction between "ttSport" and "ttSport+" models. There was only the "ttSport" designation. Personally, since disconnecting the front axle in an AWD system through drive modes wasn't invented back then (as opposed to the ttSport+ models of today), I prefer them RWD. They're more fun that way.
As for them using the smaller I6, the 2.4 one, it all comes down to racing classes dictating turbocharged power. Just like the Bolide Group 5 uses the smaller V8, the 3.2 one, and the Covet MR Turbo variants use the smaller DOHC I4 engine, which is the 1.5.

    Some random guess
Since 99 is making his own car mod, if that means the part he is responsible for in the BNG team (which is designing cars i guess) isn't the major part for the next update
So the next may not have new cars, but old car remaster.

If anyone wants to know how YBR feels about playing BeamNG again, just skip to 1:12:07 mark of this stream.

Wow I feel so bad for him, at that point he sounds like he needs therapy (if he isn't getting it already), we should leave him alone

since the i-series is more or less a 5er instead of a 3er id say only having i6s is fine, tho yeah the configs are a bit messy and the only engine model even for the 2.4 is a dualcam M engine (m88/3 or S38) which shouldnt be on base models

Vehicle design is the earliest work in the new car development stage, so he may have already designed the new car. Of course, it does not rule out the possibility that there are other people in Beam Team who can design vehicles.

He last watched the forum two years ago and last spoke four years ago.
In "Official Content", threads about new cars after 2019 are all created by other developers. He has stopped showing up.

So what's the latest speculation? A modern d-series or pessima could be potentially down the line?
Or maybe a modern van even a stepvan maybe seems very beamng lore accurate to have a stepvan with mailvan config etc?

    From public info.
From my memory gabster stated he would start taking a back seat from developing due to issues with his hands (I don't want to put words into his mouth but I swear it was severe carpal tunnel). I do miss him but if he is not wanting to chat then he does not have too.

There are those MD- series bus files that someone found.

As for what the community has stated from what I have seen. The most requested thing atm is a "modern American SUV" which means 2 things.

It's the first one. The Vivace already fits the gap of "modern crossover"

When he was asked if he would play beamng again, why did he say that he did not want to bring that darkness back into his life? o_O

Anyway, I hope that the Wentward gets remastered, that in bus mode, the pedestrians that are maybe coming soon could board the bus. That would be neat.

    That was really hard.
Can't imagine how a car sim (and not something totally stupid like, for example, Getting Over It) can make someone feel so unhappy, but to each their own I guess...

You're right on your syllogism, but remember, us Europeans must start from a lower point. In fact, some countries (mainly Southern European ones, like Italy and my country which is Greece) up until recently taxed cars based on displacement, so the 2-liter badge in the Beam files makes perfect sense. Not to mention that some manufacturers made models specifically for these countries, with smaller and less powerful engines than usual. Seeing a BMW 518i, with an 1.8 I4, in the 80s and 90s was very common here in Greece. That's why Ferrari made the turbocharged 208 GTB for Italy and that's also why Alfa Romeo had a turbocharged 2.0 Busso SOHC V6 variant instead of the equally powerful and torquey NA 3.0 DOHC unit for the 164 and the Type 916 GTV.

So the absolute base "2000" I-Series engine could be a carburetted 2.0 SOHC I4, with a smaller 1.8 "1800" variant for these countries, and, one notch above, a 2.0 SOHC I6 with fuel injection, to justify the "2000i" badge.
In fact, for following the BMW path of that era, all standard ETK engines of that era could be SOHC. The 1.8 I4, the 2.0 I4/I6 units, the 2.4 I6 and the 3.0 I6. There could even be a larger 3.4 SOHC I6 unit, named the "3400i", along with a small OHC V8 of the same displacement, designated "3400i V8".
And ttSport could make some special DOHC variants of the 2.0 I4 and the 2.4/3.4 I6 and V8 engines, depending on the model of that era of course.

The vivace does fit the modern crossover gap but it has no american stylized police equipment in it
And the only police livery for it is based on European countries
Alot of the potential police vehicles i find already in the game have the parts like like lightbars pushbar and interior equipment but they just lack the matching livery for them to operate whenever we run them
Like the D series is a perfect example
Plenty of american police use pickup trucks but the one in game has everything except a livery All we have is the park ranger livery which is very out of place when used alongside the grand marshal and roamer
On top of this its hard to find police livery mods that add liveries for more than just 2 or 3 vehicles that all match together
Or at the very least stay lore friendly like with Balasco city

Not sure if it has anything to do with future content, but BeamNG's instagram has been very active recently. Jared is at some event, I don't know, in Johnson Valley and he's probably taking inspirations for furure cars.
