I'm did that as a joke because of this. Yes. Yes it is. --- Post updated --- And the fact that it would crush mine and other peoples souls to see anything but a Sunburst remaster in a rally update.
Well it appears Stenyak's keyboard has broken in a way that gives cryptic hints to things once more... Anyway, about a Sunburst remaster... Engines: The community is generally in agreement that the Sunburst ought to get flat engines, and the current vehicle lead seems to be in the same boat. That would require some fairly involved changes, but it isn't out of the question. Taking a quick look at the IRL counterparts (Second gen Mazda 3, ninth gen Mitsubishi Lancer, and fourth gen Subaru Impreza) they all offered roughly 1.5L to 2.5L N/A and turbo petrol engines with diesel options. The SBR engines could then make sense for mid and high spec Sunburst options, we'd just need a base model engine and a diesel. HOwever, the team usually doesn't give passenger cars diesels; off the top of my head the modern Euro cars are basically all of the exceptions there. A diesel H4 would be cool to see though. Body styles: A 5 door of some description (Wagon or sportback) is really the only option here, though it's worth noting we could see a not-crossover as the Impreza did get an "all road" type package which would eventually be replaced with a full on crossover version. A standard hatchback would make sense, plus we could then recreate Ferretank's car. Assuming we get a stop sign skid plate of course. Facelifts: We could certainly see something, but should keep in mind the model years of the platform. We aren't going to see this get styled like a 2000 MY car Misc configs: Currently the only "special" factory config is the RS, we certainly should see a few more with the remaster. Subaru had a lot of special editions, many of which were market specific and/or very limited production. Speaking of which, we could see some market variations, though the team sometimes goes for those and sometimes doesn't. Super-builds: The obvious answer here is more involved rally builds, and just generally more of them. Amateur builds to full on top level WRC builds. There are some IRL V8 swap kits as we slowly make our way to Gavril-swapping everything in game, and last year Top Gear did feature a Ferrari powered Impreza... We don't have a Civetta engine that would make sense for that build (not that the build made sense to begin with) but I can dream
Yes! FEN..ces? Easy fence layout making tool? Idk much about the editor if it already had a tool like that
One of the reasons why we want Flat-4s for the Sunburst (and we also want Hirochi to become the ambassador of Flat engines in BeamNG) is because, amongst all those transverse I4-powered FWD cars in the lore, Ibishu in particular already uses a 2.0 I4 for its cars and we've also seen this engine being used in performance variants of the Ibishu models; the Covet 2.0 GTz and the '96 Pessima 2.0 LX Sport, in both of which it's NA, and the '88 Pessima 2.0 GTz, in which it's turbocharged (not to mention the 200BX, in which it can be both). Yes, this engine is quite a bit older than the Hirochi Flat-4s of the SBR4 but it truly is the jack of all trades engine in the Ibishu lineup. We've seen it heavily turbocharged and nitroused in the Hillclimb '88 Pessima and the Drag Covet respectively and revving at a screamingly high 9000rpm with the Stage 3 Performance Long Block in the Touring Car Pessima and the 200BX Runner. We can say for certain that the Ibishu 2.0 I4 is the 4G63 (with a tasteful dash of K20A) of the BeamNG lore and Ibishu should definitely keep developing it by introducing its 3rd generation (1st gen for the Covet, '88 Pessima and 200BX, 2nd gen for the '96 Pessima), after the '96 Pessima got axed in 2000. My point is that there's no point in Hirochi also having a 2.0 I4 (and I4s in general) for the Sunburst, since Ibishu (and many other car makers too) has already taken that place. As for a Flat-4 Diesel, I'd absolutely love to see such an engine in BeamNG. Even if it wouldn't make any sense for the Sunburst, it could certainly work for a Hirochi Midsize Sedan/Wagon and a Midsize Crossover, all 3 based on the same platform. As for body styles, I'd absolutely love to see a Sunburst Wagon and, on a slightly more serious note, I'd also love the Gendarmerie variant to be kept. Not only does it look good but also, this year in October, it's gonna be 10 years since the Bataclan massacre and that is why we have this variant of the Sunburst. --- Post updated --- Flat-plane I4s don't sound like that unless you play with exhaust manifold designs. I think I may have given the answer by myself. Hmmm...
