Update Speculation thread

Yeah, while I think we might get the update a bit earlier than the previous ones, mid-March is really pushing it.

The devs do tend to try to release their updates right before or during big Steam sales, though. (Hence why there's always been at least one big update in November/December before/during the Steam Winter Sale for the past nine years (0.5/0.5.1, 0.8, 0.11, 0.15, 0.18, 0.21, 0.24/0.24.1, 0.27, 0.31, 0.34). That's way too much money for the devs to miss out on, and every single year, I keep seeing some people going "Oh, it might get delayed until January/February", and that's never happened.) However, this isn't the December update - and the devs have shown they're willing to delay updates for better quality or to fix issues (see: 0.16, 0.25, 0.33).

I think that 0.35 could be released earlier than 0.32 (the 16th of April). That update only started getting teasers on the 27th of February, while 0.35 got its first "proper" teaser on the 11th of February. I'd say that the 25th-27th of March is the earliest we could reasonably expect the update if the creator branch gets updated next week - last year, the creator program was updated on the 11th of April, five days before 0.32. I still think it's more likely to drop between the 1st and 3rd of April (like how 0.28 dropped on the 4th and 0.12 dropped on the 3rd), although it could easily get pushed back further in the month.

Remember when you could open just the radial menu with the E key?

 

I’ve noticed many of them on like this every now and then. I don’t think it indicates anything we can measure as there are numerous reasons for teams to meetup.

 

Design might be staying the same, but the actual menu and its submenus might be made in Vue rather than HTML surely?

 

I think that at most, the layout and typesetting might be cleaned up a bit (like with the main menu).

 

Sorry, I may have been too enthusiastic about the upcoming update, which made me a little nervous and thought that the update would be released next week.

Just because someone from the BeamNG team was last spotted 1 minute ago it doesn't mean the update is coming out soon

 

It's kind of exciting now that steamdb doesn't work since due to the addition of private branches because we used to always know when an update was near since the creator program update was public information.

 

It does look like they're adding a linux launch option for next update

 

Oh, huh, I didn't realize that had happened. I wonder why that's the case - I guess to not spoil when the update might drop?
