Once I learn how to use the map tools, the first thing i'm doing is making that dirt oval into an paved one

We do have the small oval at Hirochi raceway, I certainly wouldn't turn down another though.

Is the track still gonna be super dusty, or will it be watered, like real-life dirt tracks? Because right now, it's really hard to see much of anything...

And a real race/derby AI mode would be sooo nice... Instead of just setting the cars to "Chase Me" or something like that.

x2 on the demo derby AI mode in the ui wheel it would be incredibly welcome♥ & wishful thinking but some vehicle dirt
liveries that materialise overtime would be great, making vehicles get dirtier the more we drive them.

I never used the dirt track much myself, but I started seeing more and more videos of people doing it and the dust was outrageous! The main driven part will be very clean with minor dust, but if you go outside to the edges it will be much just dustier and softer. I spent a good amount of time tuning the ground depth model so that it felt hard and packed on the proper race lines, but outside of the race lines it drops off in a way that I'm very happy with. No more crazy dust! =)

That's awesome! No I've never been, but I see the resemblance!

Yeah I agree, there are still areas where large trucks don't fit as well, but in general there are some features lacking on the AI side to determine whether or not a truck can go somewhere or route differently if you're in a truck. Right now I wanted to keep things working with our current systems, and if I made a tunnel that didn't fit a truck, our navigation system would still run you through there and the majority of players were just crashing obviously be very upset! I'm looking forward to the day that we have routing based on the type of vehicle you are in! :)

This makes me wish someone makes an tearoff mod like iRacing has...
..and an good late model that actually handles properly..
Anyways, i'm looking forward for this. Good luck mate!
If possible, could there be mud particles too?

Hey, I just wanted to ask if you guys have managed to fix the bug where cars in career mode that have painted steering wheels stay the stock config colour even after painting the car (Primarily on the Burnside) :)

That should be pretty easy but in the terrain painter there seemingly isn't tarmac. If there was you could just remove the decals, repaint the ground, steal some suitable decals from elsewhere, and then just reposition said decals to fit.

this is so cool, love it. i must say, for a long time i always thought wcusa felt a bit "dead", and i wasnt a fan of how the map seemed to nonsensically link all the different elements together. since the introduction of career mode and the beginning of this thread the map and my opinion has completely changed, it's now my favourite map and works so well in career with all the different elements linked together coherently. love the work youre doing, and its really really cool how often you communicate with us in the community and seem to take our ideas to heart. keep doing what youre doing :)

Yeah, I've grown to better like WCA over the years, as well - I didn't like it that much when it dropped in 0.11, because it felt way too laggy, small, and cramped compared to the other maps of similar sizes. However, while I wouldn't call it my favorite map (I still prefer JRI over it), I can say that I at least enjoy driving around in it. I'd still like to see Belasco expanded at some point - but Spearleaf, the steel plant, the alleys from 0.27, and especially the tunnels from 0.21 have made the map feel much larger than it once did (both in the physical area that can be explored, and in a "I don't have to stop as often" sense).

Thanks for the kind words! :) I've always seen WCUSA as a one-stop shop for all driving, from downtown core, to freeways, to race tracks, to offroading, to residential. Certainly the areas should each be 2-8x larger than they are for that real-world feel, but all things considered I've always seen potential in the map and Career Mode has been the ultimate tool to get to that potential. Glad you guys have learned to love it or have rediscovered it's potential, thanks for sharing!

The gentleman who spearheaded it's design/production no longer works with us but I've tried to keep the soul of the map in tact while adding more playability and usability to it, so I'm always hoping I'm doing him proud haha!

do you think its possible to extend the highway a bit more like its done on the valley map? i feel the highway section is a bit short when you are going very fast
