If you just want people who have the mod able to connect to the server, you could: 1. When they connect, send an event to the client which asks if they have the mod or not, if not kick them. 2. If they have the mod, simply just tell the client to mount it via an event. This can be done in both KissMP & BeamMP. Another method would be to: 1. Have a database with all clients that have the mods (for BeamMP, you can use the BeamMP Forum ID and for KissMP, you can use SteamID) 2. When a client connects, check if they own the mod in the database 3. If the mod is not downloaded, send the file data in chunks from the server to the client (maybe it'll work, maybe not. definitely not the best method). The mod won't be stored in the client folder because we don't want it to automatically download. Either this or you could host the mod somewhere, that's a bad idea though. 4. Once the client has recieved all the data, they can create the mod with the data and then mount it. There's probably other methods but I've not really thought about it much. I would definitely go with the first method though.
i've a 24/7 running public server which contains a lot of free releases and some out of the repo these are stored on the server it self. I wanted to give people who bought mods from me the opportunity to use them on the server as well so i created a zip which contains a vehicles folder with info.json / main.jbeam / default.png of the car and uploaded this small file on my server. We tested that multiple times and it worked fine for all when the mod it self was located in 0.28/vehicles/cardirectory i hoped that it would also work when the mod is zipped in the mods folder but it doesn't same when it is unzipped in the mods folder. maybe someone has another way to get that working without having mods unzipped anywhere or stored directly on the server
Sorry to bump but I wanted to say sorry for my old comments. They were stupid and wrong and I just wanna apologise. Thank you
All you paid mod bootlickers can cope there is no harm in hosting private servers with paid mods. It’s the same as any other games with DLC’s, as long as one player or the host owns the DLC anyone else can either see, interact with, or use freely. Have fun. --- Post updated --- Also you are a terrible friend I hope that guy blocked you
Sorry to disagree with you I have the Ibishu Sigma (demo) and its really good quality and you have an option to purchase the full version Okay its a demo but your getting a good quality mod for free BeamNG drive does need them --- Post updated --- its apology accepted
Create forums account Say straight facts Dissapear Don't know why people get so butthurt because of paid mods on private servers. Doesn't cause that much impact.
1) 1.5 year bump 2) 3 years since my message 3) I know and talk to a few of the quality paid modders out there (none of the ModLand meshslap trash) and they put an incredible amount of work into making mods that are actually worth buying. 4) There is harm in hosting a server with paid mods because it is extraordinarily easy to pirate a copy of the mod for yourself from the files that the server downloads onto your PC. Copying the mod for yourself is instant piracy.
He literally explains how you're not supposed to host the mod. If you do it the way that he explains, it guarantees that everyone who can use the mod in X server already had a copy of the mod on their PCs.
The server's private. No one except those allowed can use the mods there and I don't think it will cause that much harm to the point they have to ban the guy's server
I think paid mods should be not a thing most of the people selling these mods don't have LLC's or LTD's therefore there making profit of BeamNG with no Corporation!
Please be aware good sir that most users partaking in this thread are mere children and have little to no understanding of company structure. All debates within the thread appear non-serious and express at best surface level understandings. Nothing will ever become of them. Those in favour only hold such opinions to lure and 'impress' the add-on authors they so fawn over; a hopeless cry for attention and social gain. Once they mature only then will they realise the grift of charging for substandard product that may cease to function upon any increment of version. All standard content provided with the simulator is superior in every sense and cannot be mimicked or replaced.
You technically do lol therefore there selling online products it's a invasion and against many TOS --- Post updated --- The only thing it would come down to is having a LLC or LTD for protection! --- Post updated --- I absolutely understand that but am I wrong about what I'm saying
Different people live in different jurisdictions, and may not necessarily need a company to sell data online. In Germany, you may need a trade license, but you do not need a full company below a certain threshold of profit. This is the same or similar in many different European countries. Even in the US, you are allowed to sell without a company, and don't even need to register anywhere to be a sole proprietor. Obviously you must comply with tax laws. There's nothing inherently illegal about profiting without a corporation in Europe or the US, and BeamNG cannot prevent you from doing so by selling modifications if you ensure that the content is cleared of license restrictions (i.e. you can't just include BeamNG's intellectual property). I'm really not sure what you're getting at with this argument. By US laws you don't. You might need a permit, and might need to get extra inspections and certifications to ensure food quality, but you do not need a company.
