A Quick and Simple mod that toggles a bunch of world editor modifications to the sunsky and other. Update #1: (sort of) - The UI update. First off, sorry for taking so long, I kinda sorta just forgot about it for awhile. Its not done yet, but I've done a major overhaul to how the mod actually works, and added a bunch of new features besides just "okay lighting different now." for starters, the mod now works off a fully editable preset system, which you can customize yourself in game via the UI. I've still yet to add some important bits, like making presets easily shareable, or letting you add more variables to change, but it'll come. what you can do however, is edit a list of existing settings, change values, create new presets, duplicate, rename, delete; which do all happen to be like, pretty basic, and kind of necessary, but I still had to add them all lol. anyways, besides presets, I've also added a built in time of day slider that I think is just a bit more intuitive than the vanilla one, as well as this cool new feature that lets you merge/switch between presets as the time of day changes. want deep blue skies during the day, but rich red skies at night? well before you could have only one or the other (kinda), but now you can do just that, and have it highly customizable. anyways, that's about it. I don't have a full change-log, but you can see the mod demo video below for most of the new features. Expect bugs, I haven't actually worked on the mod in a while and its kinda just been left to rot in the corner, which I thought was unfair, so that's why I'm uploading on the forums, instead of repo. If i ever get around to making it stable then sure, repo time. anyways, enjoy. For stable version see: https://www.beamng.com/resources/teons-graphics-tweaks.33082/ You can toggle between the level's default, and your selected preset by pressing 'h' and you can toggle the UI using "=" by default. (controls can be changed under the "tTweaks" tab in the controls menu). The aim of the mod is to improve dynamic range; Darkening shadows, and brightening Highlights. Mod Demo This mod was inspired by 'automated graphics enhancement' by Kryotex, which has a slightly wider feature-set, including cc and and gradient mapping, but lacks the ability to toggle easily. (all aside from the fact that the actual tweaks to the sunsky are vastly different). below are some comparisons I made pretty quickly. looks better in-game, and small island may not be the greatest example. Sunrise on Tweaked \ Vanilla Afternoon on Tweaked \ Vanilla Sunset on Tweaked \ Vanilla Works With Other Graphics Mods Confirmed Compatible with: - Zeit's Graphics Utilities - CK's Graphics - CK's Dynamic Skybox - Chip's Volumetric Clouds Combine With Other Mods To Perfect the Look (using tTweaks + ZGUtils + CKDS + vClouds) If there's a setting you see doesn't come with the mod by default, you can add it in manually at '\lua\ge\extensions\core\teontweaks.lua' In the future I hope to make it possible to add more settings to the preset via UI. To-Do: -fix bugs on the beta ‘UI’ branch -export/import custom presets. -completely overhaul the preset system (again lol) anyways, this is my first real mod, and I've probably spend more than 30 hours learning lua, and making this mod, so I hope you like it.
version 0.1.3 out - forces settings to update, so no more changing tod. - fixed a couple bugs that would break the mod on load.
Sorry about that, updated the description before I left for work, and I guess I didn’t notice it removed the download. I don’t have the stable branch on my phone, so the beta one with bugs is up until I get home.
This is probably the best and easiest to use graphics related mod for beamng right now and it looks amazing can't wait for more updates! Thanks for releasing this mod
interestingly it stops working after I reload the lua (which I need for another mod to start working Is there a fix or is it a quirk that we have to live with?
try reloading lua before you enable the mod. The default settings preset lives in memory, and that gets cleared when you reset lua. (should be fixed in the next version too ...If i get around to releasing it).
Currently enjoying how this all works! Trying to figure out how to change the moonLightColor variable though, as I personally want the night time to be a bit brighter for videos. But I've basically no knowledge on lua itself, only some basic C knowledge. Any clues would be greatly appreciated from anyone. Google was a mess and not exactly helpful.
I'm loving this mod so far. I was just wondering, is there any way to automatically activate the mod when you load in, without having to press "=" every time?
so, i have a question. i go to steam. browse local files and i just dont know what file to put it in. is it the content files or smth ?
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.35\mods only install mods here in the userfolder, never install them in the game folder
oh..thanks! but one more question do i just put it in the mods folder or in the repo or unpacked folder ?
repo folder is for mods you downloaded on the repository, unpacked is for mods you unzipped, mods folder is for mods downloaded elsewhere (like here on the forums)
i still dont understand, is the UI update out? the stable mod from the repo lacks a ui, and the zip file from this post simply doesnt work
