Imperial is better for weather prediction, and I will die on that hill. It is more intuitive. In Imperial, 0-100 is about the range of "normal" weather, and anything outside of that is very cold or very hot. This gives you a great baseline, i.e. "50 degrees" is a reasonable temperature, not warm but not freezing. right in the middle. 75 degrees is like, 75% warm.
let me guess, it's more intuitive because it's the system your country uses and the one you know right? 0F is not normal Weather, it's -17 celsius also very cold, and over 100F is also not very hot, just hot. We can also guess with common sense from freezing to boiling numbers
Technically, we already have. In 1975, an act was passed that allowed the US states to volunteer to join the metric system. However, the only people who actually did do this was our federal government. Here's the Wikipedia article on it --- Post updated --- The only thing I like about the metric system for temperatures is that 0 is freezing. That's one thing that's always bugged me about the Imperial system. Other than that, I think that the Fahrenheit has Celsius beat.
0-100 is much easier to sort of factor and divide to get an idea where you are. vs people telling you 35 is hot and 30 is freezing or something like taht
Now you're going to argue which is better, pharyngites or Celsius? It's so stupid, everyone knows the metric system is better! Just like kilometers are better than miles, like kilograms are better than pounds.: роликовые игры:
Fahrenheit is far from perfect. It's just that for weather, in my limited experience, it's more immediately useful than Celsius. Objectively, I agree. Water is something common and readily available. But the argument isn't that Celsius doesn't make scientific sense, but that it doesn't make intuitive sense. You might die above 100 and you'll probably die at 0, but comfort is generally possible between these two extremes. At any rate, I agree that the US could use to adopt metric for most units of measure. And more importantly, that we all learn to use yyyy/mm/dd date formats. THAT's a hill worth dying on.
Im sorry did you say year/month/date? that is absolutely diabolical, I have never seen that but I do prefer day/month/year as an amercan though
Speaking conveniences in telling time, we should also all learn to use 24-hour time. Personally, I've been slowly converting over to it ever since the time I woke up and panicked for 5 minutes because I didn't know if it was 5 AM or 5 PM according to both my phone and tablet.
Y/M/D is used in East Asia, Iran, Lithuania, Hungary, and Sweden, but for the most part, D/M/Y is the world standard.
Tbh, I don't really mind using both SI Metric (which, being European, is what I grew up with) and Imperial systems for speed, torque, displacement, fuel volume, weight and temperature. I've formed the scales in my head. If anything, it makes my brain sharper when I watch American police chase cam videos with my dad and, amidst the V8 police cruiser sounds, we look at the speed the dashcam reads in the corner of the screen and my dad asks me how fast they're going!
(including possible vehicle-specific physic features that didn't exist beforehand), HMM as much as i LOVE 1920s-1980s- some 90s cars__ I hope this can mean Hybrid as much as i dont overly love them IRL, DAMM i cant wait till about middle of the year for the teasers for 0.36.......... before 0.35 is even out.. yeah its like thinking what GTA 7 will have before we get GTA 6 cant wait for 0.35. some base model Subaru style ( sunburst ) seems ultra fun, make a STOCK rwd config, Looks stock, BUT its RWD, cant wait lol
