Hello! This is my first ever mapping project. My aim is to have a good looking, yet fun map based around the Midwest, which surprisingly lacks maps in this game. However, I still have a TON of issues trying to use the World Editor, despite watching and reading tons of tutorials, so I am looking for any kind of help and wisdom, even volunteers if needed! Map plan/info The map itself is meant to be in a fictional US state called Pawnee, based around NW Illinois and surrounding states & regions. It's set in the present with scattered towns and farms, with an Interstate highway cutting through the map. Below goes the map icongraphy and one of the models meant for it. if it doesn't embed, open the link! But map concepts? Where? I had one. However, it's all out of scale, and i'm doing a full rework of it. Here goes a small peek of the reworked concept, in the map's main town of Millerton, and I-39 Any ideas and/or opinions please send it below!
This sounds good, maybe mess around with the world editor on one of the in-game maps to try and get a feel for everything.
What size is the map going to be? If you plan to make it large, I think that instead of modelling it after just one state, you should combine the highlights of multiple parts of the Midwest, much like how West Coast USA is a condensed version of much of California rather than a recreation of what one small area looks like. This could include a lakeshore with large sand dunes and bumpy trails, a town with a car factory and a large run-down area, an area inspired by Hocking Hills that would be very fun to rally through, and a western portion of the map that is based on the shortgrass prairie region and is drier with less population density, sparse farms and more ranches and undeveloped land.
My plan is 2km x 2km, around the same size of the Texas, USA map on the repo. That`s why its gonna be just a single biome, However i'm gonna take your ideas into consideration!
