Too bad, I guess? They aren't going to change the proportions just because a bunch of crybabies on the internet are saying "wahhh! it doesn't look exactly how I want it to, they better change it or else!" Look, if you don't like the new wagon, then don't use it, and instead go remaster the mods which you think are better. That's a better use of your time than complaining that it looks horrible over and over again.

It's great that we got a Sunburst remaster. But I agree that the back of the station wagon looks a bit awkward. I think with a small change, line flow and overall look could have been much better:

Anyways, I guess we will get used to it.

Sounds like an exagerration to me. As far as i know, not all the models are outsourced, and even when they are the team still decides of the design. It actually makes sense for the trunk to follow the same line as the sedan version for production costs

I've noticed a weird bug/behavior: I only get idle (off-throttle) engine sound (brap) for a fraction of a second every few seconds, making the engine almost completely silent – just a very quiet murmur.

people also seem to be forgetting that beam has a very large and active modding community. There will definitely be mods that restyle the sunburst wagon.

Yeah, the SBR wasn't changed after far stronger backlash (so strong that Gabe considered throwing the car away), so I doubt the Sunburst wagon will be changed anytime soon. The Piccolina didn't receive a 900cc engine (which would've been about 5 minutes' of coding) for being too slow due to "gameplay reasons", even after several people (including myself) showed how it wouldn't have affected very much. (I've a suspicion those "gameplay reasons" were the scenarios the Picco showed up in (Piccolina Introduction and the pizza-delivery one in Italy, both of which use the 110.)

Nor were many/any of the changes to the vehicles from 0.16 reversed quickly - it took until the vehicles' full remasters for changes to be done.

I'll just post this quote here from Diamondback that he said to me in the Picco thread:

Basically, for all of y'all who're mad about how the Sunburst wagon looks...they're not going to change it for you. It's not worth the effort of arguing about it if you think it'll change anything.

I can agree that the wagon is awkward, and the back is too straight. But if you guys are going to complain this much, then just make the change yourself if you can. I'm not sure if you could overwrite the game files with a modified model and jbeam. (I doubt it) But certainly an alternate wagon bodystyle alongside the current one could work. Also yes, obviously moddinf is very time consuming, but it would just be altering the model and jbeam; I'm sure if you guys are really this passionate about the wagon looking wrong, youre willing to change it.

After 2 days of me playing with the remastered Sunburst, here are my impressions:
    1. Apart from the fact that it's got Flat-4s now (and it's also got the top-mounted intercooler, at least in the factory variants), I also love the new Flat-4 sounds. Especially with the Race Exhausts! I spent a full 6 hours last night driving around just for the heck of it and ended up going to work the next morning without having slept!
    2. The Sport RS Active AWD system is amazing! In all my thousands of hours of driving in BeamNG since October 2018, I don't remember any other modern On-Road AWD system transmitting power to all four wheels and letting them spin simultaneously on launch. Bruckell AWD, Cherrier Clutchex, Civetta Clutchex, ETK xAWD, even the Active AWD system of the Hirochi SBR4, they all let the main driven axle spin for a moment before sharing power to the opposite axle as well. I also found this system to be making me feel like a driving god! Center diff locked or not, I've made some pretty amazing drifts and powerslides so far and never felt the car out of my control! I really like that we have a UI App and a dedicated dashboard switch for either manually locking/unlocking the center diff or leaving it on Auto, it reminds me of the "Tarmac - Gravel - Snow" settings of the later Mitsubishi Evos combined with the Symmetrical AWD of the Subaru Imprezas! The best of both worlds! I'd love to see this new system used more often as the Hirochi brand expands! ;)
    3. The revamped CVT logic is also really nice and really well simulated. Purely out of curiosity, I was especially surprised when I found out that it also simulates simulated shifts with 7 predetermined pulley ratios and that the simulated shifts actually make the car a bit slower to accelerate and to do high speeds since the engine never reaches its peak power. 100% realistic, bravo BeamTeam once again! :D
    4. I actually like the new Wagon body very much. I don't understand the backlash against it but, again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I like the swoopy belt line of the rear end and the way the backlight is a bit recessed when meeting the body panels. These details jazz the design up a bit, I feel! :D
    5. The interior is also a great big step forward and I hope backlit switches become the norm sometime in BeamNG vehicles! :)

    I have three suggestions:

    1. A sunroof would be nice too, it would suit the Comfort AWD variants really well! :D
    2. A pair of factory longitudinal roof rails would fit the Wagon body really nice, since it's usual equipment to this type of body style.
    3. As I already said in the Update Speculation Thread, a vortex generator on the backlight would look ace on the top end variants, especially the Sport RS-Aero one! ;)

But I also found some imperfections:

    1. The fuel level and engine temperature gauge needles don't move gradually when the engine gets turned on and off, as was implemented in one of the recent previous updates (0.34, if my memory serves).
    2. The 2.5 Comfort AWD (CVT)/2.5 Comfort Wagon AWD (CVT) variants have the 2.0 badge on the trunklid/tailgate while actually featuring the 2.5 engine. And this is a bit off since there isn't a 2.5 displacement badge available in the parts selector at all.
    3. On ESC & TC Off Mode, the DCT doesn't get on S, like it should, but back on D.
    4. When putting the CVT on S while moving really fast, it doesn't get to the "gear" it should in order to not overrev the engine, but it gets into a "lower gear".
    5. There's a bug on the CVT shifter, during which it moves from P all the way to S normally, like it should, but after putting it into S, it keeps staying in S and it doesn't move all the way back to P. Also, there seems to be no shift path position for S, with its 7 simulated gears.
    6. The Center Diff Lock and the Dynamic Stability Electronics controller UI Apps aren't in the same place in every 2.5 Sport RS AWD/Sport RS-Aero AWD variant. Specifically, the Police Interceptor variant has the CDL on the left and the DSE on the right, instead of the inverse layout the rest of the 2.5 Sport RS AWD/Sport RS-Aero AWD variants have. Having the DSE on the left is also better since the racing variants also have the DSE on the left but something else instead of the CDL on the right (e.g. the Trackday variant has the Nitrous on the right). Every version should have the DSE and the other UI Apps this way. Common (DSE) and specialized (CDL and/or Nitrous) stuff alike, it's more intuitive because you know exactly where to find them.
    --- Post updated ---
One more thing: I've also noticed the 6-Speed DCT hanging out at times. For example:
    1. When doing steadily 100km/h/62mph on cruise control and you downshift (either manually or automatically), the DCT takes a bit of time to downshift and the car slows down in the meantime.
    2. When you accelerate on Manual mode and upshift midway through the gear, the DCT takes some time to upshift and the engine reaches or almost reaches redline in the meantime.
    3. When you do drifts and powerslides and you end up almost still, the DCT stays in the gear you were and takes its time to downshift so that you can get off again.
I don't see these behaviors as bugs, mind you, since early DCTs are quite a bit temperamental due to the newness of this specific technology! So if these behaviors are simulated, well done once again to the BeamTeam! ;)

That's because it's based on a mechanical LSD, the Clutchex is based on mechanical coupling. The Gavril Roamer V8 Roadsport also transmits power to all four wheels and letting them spin simultaneously on launch

Exactly right! The Roamer V8 Roadsport (plus its D15 V8 Roadsport sibling) was the first car I thought of, but it's not exactly modern and it's got no electronic or manual control whatsoever, so that's why I didn't mention it. In the Sunburst, the system gives me the sense that it was developed for hardcore, fast driving/racing situations in any weather and friction coefficient!

Exactly! I mean come on, the squareback design also gives a few extra liters of trunk space. And the Sunburst is quite a small car, so it definitely needs it. :)

Plus, like others pointed out, we're gonna get used to it. I, for one, have already done that because I never had any problem with it in the first place. If the SBR4 wasn't scrapped with the backlash it met when it came out (which I never experienced since I hadn't even heard of BeamNG at that time frame), then why should the Wagon Sunburst be? Yeah, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but, dearest fellow BeamNG fans, please don't be crybabies. Show some respect to the work and the time the devs put in for us because, after all, most of us (including me) have been desiring this body style for quite some time - not to mention that Wagons are still quite rare in the roster and I'd love to see more of them! Please, let's not end up like some other game fanbases that spew hate whenever they see something they don't like, whether it be subjective or objective! We're much better than that! :D

I don’t know if this has already been written about. But the gear selector freezes into place after engaging S mode and does not return when other gears are engaged.

You can see the actual gear in the bottom right corner of the screen.

I'm surprised that the wagon body style is this controversial. Personally, I'm glad that it's not a carbon copy of the Subaru Impreza hatchback, and is rather more of a cross between a late 2000s Subaru Impreza and Forester.

It's like getting mad that the Hopper is made by Ibishu instead of Bruckell. In the BeamNG universe, the Toyota equivalent kept making their Land Cruiser equivalent as a light utility vehicle, and the Subaru equivalent never spun their Forester equivalent off from their Impreza equivalent.

And it kinda fits with Hirochi's "function over form" ethos (see: SBR).

I know the Sunburst is based on the Impreza, but the lancer wagon was much more square than the Impreza wagon.

The Evo 9 is older than the Sunburst and has a squarish design already so the wagon looks great. The Sunburst wagon doesn't fit the base design, upright square flat back on a curvy 2010s compact car. Even accepting it as a design choice it still has issues. The C pillar has a notch, the pillar angles are all over the place, the windows don't line up.
