As I said, I think we should have an entire update dedicated just to bugs. No new content, just squashing bugs.

I don't know about other people, but personally I encounter many many bugs every day, which sort of ruins the experience, as I usually have to completely quit the game and re-launch it just to get rid of it (sometimes even the anti-bug features like reloading the UI don't work). In a rare case, even reinstalling the game and deleting my user file won't work, and I can name (currently two) bugs that I'm just living with, because, in my mind they are unfixable.

Recently, as in from 0.33 onwards, I have come across so many bugs, more than ever (again, I'm only speaking from my personal experience). And, although the devs release many hotfixes after every update, often the lesser-known bugs, ones that you would have to come across after playing the game for a long time, don't get removed. I know that a lot of the bugs get ironed out after every major update, but some still linger for me.

So, I think the devs should release a big thread on these forums (and possibly Reddit and Instagram too), where all members of the BeamNG community can reply with all the bugs they still experience, and then the devs work to locate and remedy as many of those bugs as possible, in one big update (or even just one big hotfix).

Obviously, I'm not one to tell the devs what they should do, but it's just a suggestion :)

I think that's what devs should do when they will be close to official release (although, that may be a long wait)

Yeah, I know the game is still very much early access, so of course bugs are going to be present, but I think they should definitely do it at some point while still in early access. I guess just before official release would make more sense.

As if they weren't aware of those already. Usually it's the minor stuff that goes under the radar (because a part being called Stage3 instead of Stage 3 does not break your game), and the big ones like UI and engine issues are known.

The issue here is that they are working with a rather ancient engine and multiple layers of legacy code – and at this point, it'd be easier and quicker for them to announce BeamNG.Drive 2, take an engine that actually works, and rebuild the game from the ground up. Which doesn't mean it wouldn't take years to go through the process.

On a side note, they'd have to ship it with some map and car update anyway, otherwise half of the community would call the update a nothing burger.

That's what I mean, the minor stuff, but the ones that can still mess up the game. Because I come across some 'minor' bugs that still alter my experience in the game. Not that they can completely make it unplayable, but if I have certain settings enabled it causes some of the features in the game to break. And it's these bugs that are the ones that the devs haven't recognised, I think because there are different bugs for everyone.

But, for example, one of the non game-breaking bugs I have in my game is if I have the 'Start freeroam with traffic' option enabled in settings, I can not have AI traffic with police, and the AI cars in hotlapping don't work. This is an easy fix, as all I need to do is disable that option, clear my cache and relaunch the game, but it is still a bug that (slightly) changes my experience.

Although, like another comment said, now is likely too soon for them to do something like this, and it would probably only be done by the end of early access.

I agree. The Utah map is full of little white lines on the road, and the game freezes every time I try opening the ''Buy vehicles'' menu in career mode

Could you report here all of the bugs you are experiencing? Chances are that the people responsible for fixing them are not aware, maybe they missed earlier reports, so this would help

Hi, I am honoured to have a dev here :D
    Sorry for my late reply.

These are some of the bugs I experience. Since 0.35, I have had no mods except BeamMP in my user folder at all, and BeamMP has been disabled the entire time.

Starting off with the less severe bugs that I often experience:
    • Sometimes if I am in free cam and I spawn a new vehicle it spawns next to the current car like it would on any other cam setting (e.g. orbit), when it should've spawned under the free cam.
    • Sometimes, when spawning in a new car and switching between two or more cars, the UI disappears completely, and the cars do not function anymore (and there is no sound), and even pressing F5 doesn't fix it, I have to completely restart the game.

These are the more annoying bugs, and I have been experiencing these since before 0.35, and even in Safe Mode, after having cleared the cache, after cleaning the user folder, and even after completely uninstalling the game, deleting my user folder and reinstalling the game they still occur.
    • Hotlapping tool randomly truncates words off customised file names (only in the game though, not in the actual files themselves)
    • Hotlapping doesn't work on named files on WCUSA (even if I add or remove a letter from the name that the file automatically saves as (the date), the track markers do not show up and nothing happens when I press 'Start AI')
    • The (hopefully) attached video shows the AI doing a really weird thing where they randomly stop, turn around, drive back a bit, turn around again and continue as normal in hotlapping (the place that they turn around for the second time is not a checkpoint, so it's not like it was a missed checkpoint) - only on WCUSA
    • Sometimes in scenarios containing police cars they just wont spawn no matter how many times I try and also relaunching the game doesn't work (this hasn't happened in a while, it's possible 0.35 fixed it)
IDK if this is a bug but the AI cars are so bad at racing in hotlapping. For example, they randomly swerve and brake when they don't need to, they don't take corners well even though the checkpoints could be right on the apex, and also they never go fast around corners they could easily take flat out (the car that the hotlap was done in took it flat out for example, so it's not a problem with my hotlap attempt).

Sorry if this is incomprehensible, ask me anything and I will try to respond quickly*.

These are all the bugs that I remember and have experienced in the past hour that I've spent on the game (admittedly trying to hunt down bugs), but I have come across other ones that I have come across just driving and messing around, but I haven't had much time to do that today.

(*however, sorry if I take long to respond to people, I have big exams that I need to revise for (they end in late June), and I may not be able to log onto BeamNG until then)

Anyway, these bugs are minor inconveniences in the great game that is BeamNG and I thank all of you amazing devs for putting so much love and care into the game :) <3

EDIT: After playing a bit more, I came across another bug that I knew was there, but forgot about. Basically, I was on Hirochi Racetrack (although this happens on any map), and I was racing the AI with the hotlapping tool. After racing for about 15 minutes, and restarting the race about 4 times, I noticed that, upon pressing 'Start AI' again, some cars in the lineup would start reversing, and after reversing for about 5 metres, would then go forward as usual. This caused pileups and the race to be basically undoable, because half the cars ended up crashing straight off the bat. And it's not a problem with the checkpoints that are set. Anyway thank you!
