The idea is cool, but realistically, it’s pretty much impossible to simulate engine heating and cooling properly in BeamNG without running into major issues.

I’ve talked to a dev about this, and it turns out a full thermal simulation would need constant calculations even when the car is off — like tracking heat transfer between the engine block, coolant, oil, ambient air, radiator airflow, and even stuff like heat soak into components. That kind of thing would absolutely destroy performance, especially on lower-end PCs.

Also, the game doesn’t simulate time like real life. When you change the time of day, it only moves the sun and sky — it doesn’t actually fast-forward physics. To cool an engine over time, the game would need to simulate hours of physics in seconds, which just isn’t viable. And building a separate background system for it could easily get inaccurate or buggy.

I suggested making it a high-end PC option, but they said that kind of split would cause complaints — people asking why they can’t access certain features, even if their system can’t handle it.

So yeah, awesome idea in theory, but it’s way more complicated than it seems.

They dont need to do that. Just improve the physics they have. Like make the times realistic, they dont need to work out heat transfer and all that nonsense just have it so cars heart up and cool down in a better timeframe. They already have the basics

Since the ignition system needs a battery. Can we have battery damage and be able to rip batteries out of cars? Please?
