I actually do have a aftermarket cooler, Coolermaster Seidon 240m. It only lead to issues. The backplate for the cooler doesnt't fit right in my case, my mobo can't overclock more than 4GHZ without BSOD anyway.
so get a different cooler then (for example, the CM hyper 212 evo) just don't use the stock cooler, intel stock coolers are literally the worst coolers ever made
In what way? I've been running my i5 at stock clocks for over a year without any issues what so ever. Granted it may not be suitable for overclocking but it is certainly fit for purpose.
I had to disable boost clock on my 4690K because it would do 80*C+. With the 212 Evo I can enable boost and stay below 60*C easily.
Bitfenix phenom case + 4670k on stock clocks + stock cooler actually resulted in thermal throttling 24/7. CPU idled at 70c. His old air cooler from a previous rig, sub 30c. Case on its side, idle becomes 45c on stock cooler, seems orientation genuinely impacted it, made no difference to aftermarket. May be buying that case, mobo and CPU off of him. Got a hyper 212 evo to use rather than stock Intel crap.
I needz help. My internet turns off during the day and when it comes back on, the internet on my pc wont work. google chrome, skype and steam and any other application that uses internt wont connnect. My pc says i have internet and the only fix i found was a restart. have tried: Restart-works, but very annoying restart network service through task manager- no luck restart network service through cmd- no luck reinstalled my motherboard ethernet driver- no luck, going to do it again soon.
not yet. didnt even know about that. OFF TO GOOGLE FOR RESEARCH!!! update ok just did it. may be a couple days before i see if works though(due to internet not going off on weekends). i may be able to recreate it by unplugging internet. will report back with success or not update #2 ok it worked when i turned the 4 port switch off(unpluged power) that was giving ethernet to computer. so now we wait for next monday(i would turn off the main one, but my family is using it and i dont want to cut their internet off for a few minutes.)
http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/windowsnetworkin1/ht/renewipaddrwxp.htm Its fixed things for me a few times and is likely the only thing a reboot would change.
My 4690 is running stock cooling and never goes above 60°C, even at 3.9GHz for a few hours during summer. Stock coolers aren't the worst thing in the world, they're just enough for most users and are cheap for intel (or amd, but I've never used a amd cooler) to make.
I've been noticing something going on with my laptop. Every time I try to go on the interweb after a resume or boot, it won't connect to proxy, yet 3 minutes later it does. I don't get it. Also everything has gotten a hell of a lot slower.
I could OC my 6100 to 3.8 GHz until it reached 70*C (IHS), and that's in a stress test. I could've done 4 GHz on the stock cooler.
Check your proxy settings. Shouldn't be one at all, malware and some dodgy 3rd party shit has been known to add proxy settings though. Otherwise, the above solution for narwhal might sort it.
Intel is drunk. http://ark.intel.com/products/84995/Intel-Core-i7-5650U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz > i7 > 2 cores, 4 threads Shouldn't they call it an i3? But wait, there's more! http://ark.intel.com/products/85212/Intel-Core-i5-5200U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-2_70-GHz A dual-core, hyperthreaded i5. The i3s are 2/4 as always. So, basically, Broadwell turned all the mobile i5's and i7's into i3's? Intel, pls. - - - Updated - - - Also, they now have a new "Core M" series for ultra low power CPUs (4.5W). I wonder how long till they make a CPU that can run on a potato battery (Yes, it's exactly for what you're thinking it is for).
There are a lot of dual core hyperthreaded i5s and i7s for mobile.. i7s aren't all hyperthreaded quad cores just like i5s aren't all non-hyperthreaded quad cores... Also, 4.5w? Psshh. The Atom in my old netbook had a 2.5w TDP.
this is how most mobile i5's have worked for a LOOOOOONG time, dual core i5's with hyperthreading for the other 2 cores no idea about i7's
