the big problem with a modern international sized truck is that it ends up being almost the same size as the D-series, and has about the same power output, etc.

I still think a 1500 sized US pickup is a possiblity, but it would probably need to have something unique about it compared to the D series.
an electric version in line with the F150 Lightning or Ram REV would be a unique addition, and if they were to include modern 2500-4500 variants, they would almost compete with the capability of an MD series, while being quite different to drive (e.g. actually having rear suspension and the ability to exceed 60mph)

and plus, we need (not really) a more modern bruckell/soliad equivalent for each bodystyle of the Nine; the moonhawk covers the coupe, the bastion/legran cover the sedan, the lansdale covers the panel vans, that leaves only a roadster and a pickup! :p

It would be cool too, or a modern fleet vehicle based on the Explorer or something

Considering the focus of content is shifting towards racing, it would be cool if some more vehicles got a purpose-built racing configuration, for example, the Bruckell Bastion, Bruckell Moonhawk, and the Gavril Barstow could get stock car variants with unique liveries, and even the MD-Series and T-Series could get a similar treatment with aerodynamic body panels and spoilers. :)

I think a modern Bruckell pickup truck would be cool for this game. I mean, they have the powertrain for it, which they could use the Bastion powertrain.

I agree, and I would also like to add that most midsize pickup trucks like the Nissan Frontier/Navara/NP300, Toyota Hilux, and Ford Ranger have gasoline and diesel inline-4, inline-6, and V6 engines, which the D-Series doesn't have. This is why the four-cylinder Chevrolet Silverado has a turbocharger, because it won't have enough torque for such a big truck if it's naturally aspirated.

A Mazda Repu or Datsun like truck would be cool >.> small pick up trucks like these had a decent following in some countries. a foreign I4/V6 pick up truck would be cool

Unfortunately for the Bastion, modern stock cars (since Gen 4 in the early 90s) have a streamlined body shape distinct from any of their production counterparts. V8 Supercars would probably be a better fit, though that'd depend on whether the Bastion was sold down under lorewise.

We'll probably get a new Euro/Japanese vehicle soon enough - the devs tend to do a couple US cars, then a Euro/Japanse car in between. For reference, since 0.9, the new-vehicle releases have been as such:

    -US: Wentward (0.12), Bluebuck (0.17), Wendover (0.22), Bastion (0.24.1), SPs/Autobuggy (0.27), Lansdale (0.29), MD-Series (0.33), Nine (0.34)
    -Europe: Piccolina (0.15), FCV (0.19), Scintilla (0.25), Wydra/Stambecco (0.27)
    -Japan: Hopper (0.9), Wigeon (0.23), Aurata (0.30)

However, we've also been getting many more market variations of vehicles over the years, such as the EUDM Sunburst and Lansdale, JDM Covet and BX, and USDM Bolide. These market variations are good ways of adding more market representations to the game without having to model new cars - which would save a lot of development time and maintenance.

As for the modern Bruckell pickup truck...I still don't know if it would happen anytime soon (if ever), but for slightly different reasons. While yes, we now have a third wagon with the Sunburst remaster, it's a compact wagon. The 800-Series and LeGran are mid-size wagons. That could mean we get a Miramar wagon when that gets remastered, since that's also classified as a compact car. Gabe mentioned a while ago that there were too many FF sedans in the game (hence why he turned the Wendover into a coupe). If we break down the vehicles by derby class/powertrain/body style, the Wendover is the only vehicle of its type (whereas there are already three mid-size FF sedans).

The Nine's classified as a full-size car, whereas the D-Series is classified as a medium truck, so by official terms, they don't overlap. However, the MD-Series (which has pickup variants) is also classified as a medium truck. And unlike the MD-Series, a new Bruckell pickup wouldn't have the advantage of re-using so many parts from other vehicles. It'd only be able to re-use the engines from the Bastion. While we have been getting a lot more modern cars in the past few years, they've all been passenger cars (like the FCV and Bastion) or specialized off-roaders (like the Dunekicker and Wydra), which would have far fewer frames to maintain than a modern Bruckell truck.

I think this post that I brought up last time we had this discussion shows where the devs' priorities lie at the moment (emphasis mine):

The MD-Series does a lot for the vehicle roster (and could do even more), while being (relatively) simple to develop and maintain. The delays for 0.33 were mostly on the T-Series side, according to the post I linked. I feel like a Centurion-style H-Series pickup would be more likely than a modern Bruckell truck, since most of the parts for that are already in the game. It'd only need one or two new frames (if even that), compared to the six-ten frames for a modern truck. And it'd add an interesting alternative to the D-Series that would also expand Kentarch as a brand. That probably wouldn't be anytime soon, but I could definitely see the devs wanting to add that in a future trucking update.

One interesting thing about the current derby class system is that the Hopper and K-Series are in their own classes (light truck and sports car, respectively), and I doubt those are oversights, so we could be getting another light truck or sports car in the future.

I wouldn’t know, those kinds of trucks have been tariffed in my country since the 70’s.

For the record, we ALMOST got the Holden Ute as a Pontiac, but then they got shot down by the financial crisis, and unlike the guy that introduced the Sport Truck at the New York Auto Show, Pontiac didn’t get back up.

Yeah it's really unfortunate how close America was to getting our utes, just for everything to get fucked up last minute. Also Holden making Pontiacs would give more of a reason to keep Holden.

I mean yeah, just look at what happened to the entirety of Holden after the Chevy SS (VF Commodore my beloved) was killed off due to poor sales.

I find it sad they couldn't crack the market over there, because they sold extremely well over here.

Which would also not be that unrealistic cause just saying there was an GT Mustang back in the day would be perfect for the Bastion:
    --- Post updated ---
Also a GT 3 Version of the Bastion would be cool:
