Dear BeamNG Development Team, Hello! First of all, thank you for your continuous efforts in delivering such a realistic and highly customizable driving simulation experience. As a long-time sim racing wheel user, I am truly impressed by the physics and vehicle details in BeamNG.drive. I would like to take this opportunity to provide two suggestions regarding power steering and force feedback improvements: 1. Please consider adding a “default enable power steering” option in the settings Currently, players need to configure power steering for each vehicle individually. For racing wheel users, the absence of power steering reduces driving realism, especially in Career and Scenario modes where vehicles by default do not come equipped with power steering and players cannot adjust the configurations themselves. I am aware that some players have previously raised this issue, and the developers responded with concerns that enabling power steering by default might affect non-wheel users. However, I believe this can be addressed by introducing an optional setting that enables default power steering specifically for wheel users, enhancing their experience without impacting other control types. 2. Please consider improving the force feedback response when power steering is enabled Currently, even with the force feedback strength set to the maximum, vehicles with power steering enabled produce almost no centering force at low speeds (below 10 km/h), as confirmed through the force feedback visualization tool. In real-world vehicles equipped with power steering, centering force is present as soon as the vehicle is in motion, even at very low speeds, allowing for smooth and natural self-centering of the steering wheel. I hope the development team can optimize this behavior to further enhance realism and driving feel.
Hello, and welcome to the forums. For your first point, here's this mod: https://beamng.com/resources/automatic-power-steering-adder.21172/. It's been out for a few years and made by an official developer, so I have no idea when it'll come out in the base game. For the second one (though it's not a perfect solution), it could be a good option that rather than using power steering, you should enable the option to lower FFB strength while parked, so that even without power steering, you can easily turn the wheel, but you also get quite a lot of feedback while moving.
