Dear BeamNG Team: I just noticed I can´t upload images anymore without having the 2 step verification... Please get rid of the 2 step verification for the forum. This is not a bank account that needs to be secured. NO ONE CARES ABOUT MY BEAMNG FORUM ACCOUNT YET EVEN TRIES TO STEAL IT. IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE SECURED IN THIS MANNER. THIS "SAFETY FEATURE" IS TOTALLY UNNECESSARY AND NOTHING BUT ANNOYING. GET RID OF IT PLEASE! Also, before anyone on the team gets some more ideas.... never ever ever ever make it mandatory for people to give their mobile phone number in order to use this forum. The phone code message necessity on the internet is a plague that needs to be stopped. If anyone agrees please bump this so the devs see it.
It's most likely due to some legal requirements so there's not really much the devs can legally do against it
I agree I trust beamng to not abuse my phone number but we need to stop letting companies have access to our phone number
You can do Two-Step-Verification with E-mail, though? There is no option that requires your phone number.
Yes I know. Experience shows that once websites start with this verification nonsense the way to the mandatory phone number is only a very short one... thats why I wrote "before anyone gets some more ideas" Also email verification is highly annoying. Now I have to login in the mail everytime I want to post a picture on this forum which makes me want to quit immediately. Takes away 2 minutes of my life I never get back plus I am instantly mad.
...or you could just use something like imgbb? I know it's not the same, but it's really not such a big deal in my opinion
Yes sure thats a possibility. But the point here is that I am complaining about a "feature" that no one asked for that has no use whatsoever except taking time away from our lives and I am sure most of you will agree with me. As I said before... this is not a bank account.. there is no point in being forced to secure a forum account for a video game in this way. Why would anyone steal such an account and even if so it could be resolved with an admin.
Because with such accounts you can get the e-mail addresses of users and with that you can hack into other accounts. It wouldn't be the first time that this has happened, and in general improving site security is not a bad thing because yes, even such seemingly "unimportant" sites as this one can lead to big damage after a cyberattack
Yes valid argument. But even so, why not leave it to the user if we want the security measurements to be active or not? Like Steam Guard for example. Can be active or not, its up to the user. I learned the hard way after some russian stole my steam account. Now I have steam guard active and my phone number there.
i have a problem when i try to do the two-step verification and type in the password it doesnt do anything and it is the right password
