Viruses are everywhere and will always be, nothing can be done about it. The fact that moderation missed this, I think it is understandable, everyone makes mistakes and can be inattentive somewhere. Try scanning files with different antiviruses, even if the mod is from a repo or forum, I think it will be safer than trusting something. I don't want to say that moderation or repo is terrible, just need to be a little more careful.
What's terrible is that they didn't tell anybody. I only stumbled across this on accident and it really pisses me off. Yes people need to be more careful and yes the moderation needs to speak up more about things like that!
has anyone actually personally had their pc wrecked by this? downloaded american road a bit back and nothing has happened yet
Not all malware... Has an immediate effect on people and if it has like a key grabber or.... Something else.. that is malware and if it grabs your passwords and stuff you're fucked because most people these days rely on Google and if Google gets compromised on their account or whatever.... Game over for several places and so much hassle or you lose a lot of money and basically your life savings etc
This is why i dont trust online banking much lol, you are basically relying on whether their cyber security team is actually competent
