Low FPS on RTX 3080

I have on avg less than 10 fps on ultra settings 1440p on a pretty good pc (rtx 3080) and Vulkan (it's worse without vulkan)

PC specs :

CPU : intel i7 3770k
GPU : ASUS RTX 3080
OS : Windows 10
RAM : 16GB

my game ran properly several months ago on a GTX 1080ti and i have tried everything i have seen before on beamng an PC optimisation

 

well its the cpu its a 3th gen what do u excpect i know that beamng i based on the gpu but the cpu needs to be competitive with the gpu so..... and ur running on 1440p so ur downgrading badly thats only my opinion so dont minde my solution if its going to be false (sorry for my bad english)

 

Your cpu is your problem, however vulkan should work better and give you somewhat decent frame rates with only a single car. What happens when you put all the settings on the lowest options

 

That doesn't explain much. I had a 3rd Gen I7 a few years ago with my GTX 1060, and I ran that at medium to high settings just fine. I could run ultra at 30-60 FPS, depending on the map, so that low FPS can't be 100% put onto the CPU.

 

use amd or other, intel is for working on things that aren't as big as supporting a game like BeamNG

also, you need 32 of ram to run better

 

The guy might not have the cash to completely change the motherboard, RAM, and CPU. I don't like the thinking that all Intel chips are crap as some Intel chips are more powerful than some AMD chips and vise versa. I'm using an Intel i5-10400F, and it runs the game like a champ, with the GPU being what is holding it back.

"years ago", beamng got graphics updates and is way heavier than it was before, my 1060 which used to handle the game at 60fps ultra, cant do 30 at medium anymore

 

Years ago as in less than 2 years ago. It was a 6GB model and had a good overclock on it.

 

Or its the CPU.....unless you want to pair an old ass CPU like that with a high end GPU that era of CPU severely limits you in performance. You have to use Vulkan in order to get acceptable performance. But I wouldn't know what I"m talking about

i3 4130........yup a dual core CPU.....but with a 5070Ti



Its basically unplayable because the CPU isn't powerful enough but in Vulkan, easy 60fps.

Now what If I go to a more powerful CPU 4790K, along with a high end GPU (4090) totally acceptable performance.

Lets use another old CPU (5775c) with a 5090

So, with an old CPU like that you need a top end GPU to get decent performance and you have to use vulkan.

Funny how I've clearly shown how there was a large increase in performance using Intel going from Raptor Lake to Arrow Lake.

How come the intel system is better than the AMD system doing "bigger things" The bigger things being lots of AI traffic spawned.

But maybe you say its not far using a 24 core chip vs an 8 core chip?

Ok so then explain why this 16 core 3D Cache chip can't compete with a 24 Core chip

So your argument was intel wasn't good for big things like beam, yet all my testing shows the opposite. Do you have any testing to prove your opinion?

 

Interesting videos, thanks for posting...did not go old enough in the CPU, need to try a i7 3770K, I have this CPU in my PC with a 3070...lol...get approx 20 - 45 FPS depending on what map and were I am on the map, No traffic on though.

 

Interesting. Maybe I mixed up my systems. I think I might've been referring to my 6-core 12-thread 3930k system rather than my 4790k system. But 10-FPS still seems low for even a bottleneck of that sort.

 

I won't go older than Z97, reason is my Asrock Z97 Extreme 6 has a Pcie Gen 3 M2 slot on it, so I can run a decently fast SSD, and really just isolate CPU performance with newer GPU's, and i'm just partial to intel's broadwell chips that weren't like 3d cache but sort of.

 

Is there an onchip graphics in your system too? If yes it could be that beamng takes the wrong gpu. I had this once on a notebook. Check the utilization in task manager. If the wrong one is used the right one can be set in NVIDIA tools for the game.

 

the problem obvously so what CPU do you recomend for beam for less than 100 € on used market do you recomend and which how can i make BNG use the GPU as much as possible instead of the CPU (settings). I know it's possible somehow to optimise that because before some updadates it worked better

 

Vulkan will better utilize the GPU but if your gpu is too weak it wont run any better.

You are at the limit with that platform. You can't upgrade it. Save your money until you can afford a new CPU MB and ram
