So I'm getting close to getting a new GPU. I currently get terrible FPS on near minimal settings (as I'm sure some of you know). I run a 2.3ghz quad core with a nVidia gt610 and get 12-20 fps (20 on a good day). So the question is, at only 50% cpu use, is my GPU bottlenecking me? And with that, is it worth it. I'm thinking CPU, but there are more knowledgeable people here ^^ Thanks
Try pausing physics, if the FPS rises, its your CPU limiting you. But to be truthful neither your GPU or CPU sound up to the task.
the gt610 is bottom of the barrel, provided that barrel is at the bottom of a stack of barrels, provided that the stack of barrels is at the bottom of the ocean. Seriously, intels HD4000 integrated chipset is more powerful.
Exactly what "quad core" is this? There's a big difference between, say, an FX4100 and an i7 4790k, while both are quad core.
Ok. Went from 23 unpaused with the pickup on grid map (highest all week) and went to 27-28...is that significant enough to say it's my cpu? - - - Updated - - - Yes sorry, It's old. AMD Phenom X4 Quadcore 2.3 Ghz
GPU, definitely. Upgrade your GPU and your CPU. (If you can. If not, just get like a 650ti or something.)
A GT610 is worse than integrated graphics. The only reason to buy one is if your PC doesn't have iGPU. Upgrade immediately. Your CPU is old too, you should upgrade it when you can, but GPU first.
Cool, I'm gonna try and step into overclocking.. - - - Updated - - - Welp, nevermind on overclocking, I'm completely on a locked system :[
It's everything. Your clock speed of 2.3 is far too low, and like others have said, your GPU makes integrated graphics look fast. You need a full upgrade to run the game smoothly
remember when we were told that being part of the master race was cheap and easy. well that was a flat out lie
I'm assuming by the use of the words "master race" that you're trying to draw a comparison or a justification to consoles. If that's the case, please find us a console that will run BeamNG at playable framerates and in real time.
You can easily build a system that kills next gen consoles for the same price. It's even cheaper when you look at buying used parts instead of new ones.
you can, but it wold only last 3 days. that's why it's always good not to cheap out on computer parts. especially when it comes to your psu. i learned that the hard way.
only if you have no ability to choose parts whatsoever, otherwise as long as you choose a decent PSU it'll be perfectly fine, and last years easily
Was on a $500 PC for almost a year. Try again. (A8-6600k, cheap af motherboard, 660 Ti, 8 Gb cheapo pny ram, cx600psu) CPU/Mobo went into family's pc, running fine. Everything else i still have running with a 4670k. that i bought used. for $90. Last 3 days you say? Oh contraire, monsieur Might i add the 660 Ti was "refurbished" and on sale for $120 at microcenter. A year ago. Still running.
As for PC reliability, I have a PC built entirely of parts found lying about, it works perfectly. Have had it for a month or so in its current setup, but most parts are from 2007-2009.
oh boy the joys of gt610 - - - Updated - - - talking of which my pc is running on a 2004 psu !!!! 305w
