Hey everyone! I’m currently working on my own custom car mod for BeamNG and I could really use some help from the community. I’ve got some basic modeling skills and a solid idea of what the car should look like — kind of like a blueprint in my head (and partly on screen). So far, I’ve started with the 3D model and the general design. However, I’ve run into a wall with the technical side of things. Here's where I need help: JBeam structure – I’ve never done this before and honestly have no idea where to start. Suspension modeling – I'm not sure how to properly model the suspension parts. Animated parts – Like moving steering wheels, shifters, pedals, etc. Engine sounds – I don’t know how to make or implement them into the game. If anyone is interested in helping out or even collaborating, I’d really appreciate it. This is a personal passion project and I’d love to bring it to life properly in BeamNG. Thanks in advance! If you want to see what I have so far or need more details, feel free to reply or DM me on discord (dlt4official). Cheers!
I beg you to go model out the car instead of teasing us like those countless "mod plan" threads that always get deleted because they're useless and don't show any tangible progress
oh ok i think ia is not adapted to make blueprint, you can't show really your idea and your imagination, i mean that not from the modder
ow god i just noticed that the original message uses an em-dash (—) which barely anyone uses online in writing, apart from chatgpt --- Post updated --- yeah this thread will last like 5 minutes and then die off
I think that the car could work out in the end, but I don't think a brand would name the car that... Unless W159 stands for something... If you want, I could help you with the naming part (I'd understand if you don't though, and you can keep it as is, just saying my opinion here), but with the rest, not really. I myself am still learning, so I'm sorry. Also, no need (but also no problem) of making an entirely new brand. From what I see, this could be an ETK or an Autobello even. Again, I'll mention that this is my opinion and in the end it's up to you if you decide to go with it, or not.
Yes, in fact, it is an AI-created image because I can't draw that well, but I made a real drawing on paper to show the AI how the blueprint should look like --- Post updated --- Of course, why not? I was thinking about giving it another name anyway --- Post updated --- I only use this 'em dash' to capture small side thoughts, to replace parentheses, or just to keep it organized. I'm sorry if I'm doing something wrong; I'm still relatively new in the BeamNG modding community
if i had a dollar for every beamng newb that decided their first mod should be a whole car done from scratch for some insane reason, i would be very rich indeed
OMG ALFA ROMEOOOOOOOOO!! wait a sec... STELVIO???? (Bc its suv) OMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG --- Post updated --- 159 in stelvio style looks promising, but not as first mod (cough* etk hf series cough*) bc its too complicated.
That's great to hear, and welcome to the forums! Proof? lol I mean no offense, but "Land" forum rules do state the following in section 5; "To make a thread, you must have consistent progresses to show, better if in-game screenshot to show. Do not make a thread if you downloaded a 3D model and opened it in your 3D software with little to no changes. Do not make a thread if you just started your 3D model." ("Land" forum posting rules) https://www.beamng.com/threads/mods-section-rules-updated-january-2023.61804/ So far you have only shown a drawing that you didn't draw. I personally don't believe that constitutes progress. This is the best advice I can give you; just dive in and try something! It will be frustrating at first, and you will hit many roadblocks, but in the end it is the only way to truly learn anything. This will be invaluable to you once you have a grasp of the key concepts of modding BeamNG: https://documentation.beamng.com/ There are resources here that will walk you through almost anything you could ever want to do with BeamNG's game engine, and how to do it the right way so it works the first time. What's more is once you learn how to utilize BeamNG more fully, you can figure out ways to do things that aren't listed under the documentation. Finally, while I do believe it's unwise to make your first mod an entirely new vehicle, you CAN do it if you're willing to fight through the early struggles of learning how to mod this game. You WILL NOT be happy with your first attempts, and you may completely start over several times, but if you really are "passionate" about making this vehicle real, you can do it. It may take you literal years, but you can do it. I don't believe it's very nice of some veteran forum-goers to immediately trash new users' project announcements, though it wouldn't be a stereotype if there wasn't some truth to it. Don't let them get to you. If you really want to make something, just make it. However, I do advise you to be further along before posting about a new project next time. It'll save you some comments regarding the likelihood of your finishing said project. Good luck.
So first of all, thank you very much for the advice. This won't really be my first mod, as I've already made many mods before—however, without uploading or showing them here. Also, unfortunately, I currently have no proof that I was working on it because my Blender file was lost on my massive 7TB hard drive, but I am working on finding it and also trying to start again from scratch. I have already read many documents from BeamNG, so I have some ideas about how everything works, and I am ready—even if it may take years—to somehow finish this project.
Bruh stop using chatgpt This statement contradicts your first message if you've never made a "jbeam structure" then how the fuck have you made any mods, all vehicle mods require this, also you can just filter files by *.blend (using the search function) to find it in your hard drive
