Ridiculous slow loading

Been trying to fix ridiculously slow loading since the new update. Game runs perfectly once the world is loaded, and no settings seem to affect loading time. I've also never had this issue before.

Thing is, it takes around an hour to load a map. Never had this issue before. Tried a clean install, moving the user folder around, I tried safe mode. The empty grid map loads normally. The rest of them take way too long.

Please help.

Running on win 11.

Update: Installed it on an SSD and still the same. This is now the third clean install that takes ages to load. No mods, nothing. It loads "base" then trips up when loading terrain.

 

Same issue here, loading a map take like 5+ minutes, it took around a minute before the update

 

If it takes more than an hour it's probably not your SSD

 

Yeah that's what I figure. Same long loading on HDD as well as SSD. And only since the 0.36 update.

 

Another fresh, completely clean install:

Base loads in under 5 sec.

Loaded 18 objects - 4 min.

Loaded 46339 forest items of 53 types - 5 min.

The rest after that takes 45 min to 1 hour. I'm thinking it freezes for some reason, and I'm all out of ideas or things to try.

Task manager says it doesn't use any resources during this stage.

 

Just in case someone else has these issues, I got to the bottom of it.

I was using Riva Tuner Statistics Server + MSI Afterburner (to limit FPS and display temp). Terminating the two apps restored my loading time to under 2 min.

 

These apps shouldn't soft-lock the game, for me and for many people it works fine and doesn't impact anything on performance.

 

Yeah, it's probably more complicated than that, but it's what worked for me and it might work for others.

Everything worked fine for me too, then Beam updated, and it broke loading times. Both MSI Afterburner and RTSS are fine with literally everything else that I run on this PC. It's easier to just stop using them with Beam for now, than to reinstall every driver, look at every windows update etc.
