Hello I'm currently wanting to map a map and i was wondering if any of you had links to good videos about roads and or forest tips thanks in advance
When making the terrain in the editor, it helps to use the option at the top called "Smooth Hightmap" under "terrain" on the top left. The rest, it is best to find out you're self by simply experimenting and practicing with the tools, a good few hours with them and you'll be going on smooth without issue, just don't ever forget to grab edits from you're cache folder as that is where the game will save the .ter edits.
well i imported a height map for my map honestly im kinda so lost on this stuff i wanted to make a new map but the game would let me have me a error when i tried to just make a new one so i ended up having to duplicate it with a program i was told to use it worked fine but im having trouble with my ter.depth
I've spent 3 days on a Ter.depth with no luck, sorry but someone else will need to help you there, Sorry for the inconvenience.
I'm getting into map making as well. My advice, while strictly my experience, I would fore go the depth map and focus on the basics of the heightmap, textures and vegetation. Learn everything Torque3D you possibly can and practice, practice, practice.
Ya I've moved on for now, I've been laying out roads and tweaking them here and there also been testing importing my own made props in to game. I'm currently working on a bridge... still trying to figure out why my car sticks to models so hard core like. its all good tho i got lots to do and lots to learn
You're further along than me. I can't even comprehend learning Blender etc. right now. I'm happy learning environments.
I've used blender for a few years now and back in like 2003 i messed around with Torque3D for a bout a year or so before i got into 3d modeling. i really would love to make a game and saddly i cant do it all alone, if you figure or have advice let know. i can also try and help ya with blender if you need help i don't that much but I'm able to make props for beamng.
